As Southwest Florida enters another hurricane season, we wanted to do more than just talk about preparation—we wanted to provide a resource that could actually help.

That's why the Black Flag Roofing team created a free Storm Preparation Guide for homeowners, businesses, HOAs, and property managers throughout our community.

Inside you'll find practical tips on preparing your property before a storm, creating emergency plans, reducing potential damage, and understanding what to do before, during, and after severe weather events.

Whether you have a brand-new roof or one that's been through a few storm seasons, preparation is one of the most important investments you can make. We've seen firsthand how proactive maintenance and planning can make all the difference when a storm arrives.

The guide is completely free and available for download on our website.

Stay prepared. Stay informed. Stay protected.

Hurricane season is here, and the best time to prepare is before a storm ever appears on the radar.

Every year, we see the same pattern across Southwest Florida. Small issues that could have been addressed with routine maintenance become major problems when exposed to days of wind-driven rain and hurricane-force conditions. A loose flashing detail, cracked sealant, clogged drain, lifted tile, or aging pipe boot may seem minor today, but during a storm, those are often the first points of failure.

For homeowners, now is the time to have your roof inspected, gutters cleaned, and any deferred repairs completed. For commercial property owners, HOAs, and property managers, ensure drains are flowing properly, rooftop equipment is secured, and maintenance items are addressed before emergency contractors become overwhelmed.

Being proactive doesn't guarantee a storm won't cause damage, but it dramatically improves how your property performs when it matters most.
✔ Complete maintenance now
✔ Address minor repairs before they become major ones
✔ Have your emergency contractors identified in advance
✔ Keep documentation and roof records up to date

Preparation isn't about fear—it's about protection.
At Black Flag Roofing, we're here to help our Southwest Florida neighbors and businesses enter hurricane season with confidence.

Stay aware. Stay prepared. Stay protected.

The rain is not stopping, Southwest Florida. ⛈️

We had a delayed start to rainy season, but it’s officially here with a vengeance—and there doesn’t seem to be a fully clear day in sight anytime soon.

This is the time of year when hidden roof problems suddenly make themselves known. Small issues that went unnoticed during dry season are now turning into active leaks overnight. We’re seeing unexpected ceiling stains, fascia leaks, failed penetrations, overflowing gutters, and water intrusion showing up across all roof types.

The best thing you can do right now is stay proactive. A preventative inspection is always cheaper and less stressful than emergency interior repairs once water finds its way inside.

If your roof is older, has previous repairs, or you’ve noticed anything unusual during these storms, now is the time to have it looked at.

Stay dry out there, SWFL. 🏴☔

Today we remember and honor the men and women who gave everything for this country.

Memorial Day is more than a long weekend, it’s a reminder that the freedoms we enjoy every day were paid for by those who never made it home.

From all of us at Black Flag Roofing, thank you to the fallen heroes and the families who continue to carry their legacy. Your sacrifice will never be forgotten. 🇺🇸

Wishing everyone a safe and meaningful Memorial Day.

One of the most overlooked problems we see on roofs in Southwest Florida is rotting fascia. Most homeowners think it’s just a little wood rot or peeling paint, but fascia failure is usually a sign that water has been finding its way where it shouldn’t for a long time.

For those who don’t know, fascia is the long horizontal board that runs along the edge of your roof directly behind your gutters. It’s what the gutter system is attached to and helps protect the edge of the roof from water intrusion.

Once fascia starts deteriorating, gutters begin pulling away, water starts running behind the system instead of through it, and moisture slowly works its way into the surrounding wood and roof decking.

The dangerous part is that most of the damage stays hidden until the area is opened up. What looks minor from the ground can turn into compromised decking, rotten tails, soffit damage, and even interior leaks.

Especially this time of year with constant rain, clogged gutters, and overflowing valleys, these small warning signs escalate quickly.

If your gutters are sagging, your soffits are staining, or your fascia paint is bubbling—don’t ignore it. Those are usually the first signs that water is already winning somewhere behind the scenes.

This project at Liana of Venice is a perfect example of why proper installation matters from the start.

Prior to construction, it was identified that the existing tile valley systems had been installed without valley metal, leading to ongoing leak issues throughout the roof sections. It was also known that portions of the existing TPO roofing system had severely compromised AC stands that were collapsing into the decking beneath.

Our scope included a full TPO reroof over the affected sections along with properly rebuilding the leaking tile valleys with new valley metal installed the correct way. We also matched the original tile color of the building (Even if it doesn’t fully look like it in photos—it is the original color match.)

Grateful to Liana of Venice for trusting us with the project and allowing us to help restore these roofing systems the right way.

Can I get a Gooood Morning Naples!? ☀️

Just wrapped up this beautiful clubhouse project for the Riviera community. Multiple existing vents were removed and properly roofed over to create a cleaner, more seamless appearance while maintaining system integrity.

Big thank you to the Riviera community for trusting us with the project. We take a lot of pride in the details that make a roof not only perform better, but look better too.

Onwards and upwards. Planting the Black Flag one roof at a time.

Another one done right.

We recently had the opportunity to complete a full gutter replacement for the Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott. Right down the road from the Paradise Coast Sports Complex.

Big thanks to Driftwood Hospitality Management for trusting us with the project.

We installed all new 7” gutter systems and metal fascia, giving this property a clean look and, more importantly, a long-term solution for proper water management.

This wasn’t just an upgrade, it was a necessity. And now it’s done the right way.

We do gutters.
