Today, Silicon Ranch officially launched CattleTracker™ at the Christiana Solar Ranch in Middle Tennessee—the first‑ever commercial deployment of a patented solar tracking system designed specifically to integrate regenerative cattle grazing with utility‑scale solar energy generation. This project represents a major milestone in the history of American energy and agriculture.
While grazing livestock alongside solar has been explored in small research settings, Christiana Solar Ranch represents something fundamentally different. CattleTracker™ is a commercially viable platform, developed through years of rigorous, real‑world research, that allows cattle to safely graze beneath and around solar panels while maintaining optimal energy production. The result is an approach that is good for solar generation, good for the land, and good for the animal.
Developed and owned by Silicon Ranch in partnership with Middle Tennessee Electric, Christiana Solar Ranch is already delivering value to more than 750,000 Tennesseans—while also serving as a proof point for how thoughtful solar design can support agriculture at true commercial scale.
Christiana Solar Ranch also reflects Silicon Ranch’s commitment to American manufacturing and American workers. The project generates energy using made‑in‑America solar panels, trackers, and torque tubes, strengthening domestic supply chains and supporting jobs across the country, including:
• First Solar modules – Perrysburg, Ohio
• Nextpower torque tubes – Memphis, Tennessee
• Federal Pacific switchgear – Bristol, Virginia
• Eaton transformers – Waukesha, Wisconsin
• Shoals combiner boxes – Portland, Tennessee
• Qualico steel piles – Webb, Alabama
As our co‑founder and CEO Reagan Farr shared at today’s launch, CattleTracker™ was born at the intersection of American energy, American manufacturing, and American farming—three sectors under growing pressure to evolve together. By opening up vast stretches of land for two purposes at once, this project lays the groundwork for a meaningful boost to both America’s cattle ranchers and our renewable energy future, helping secure a more reliable supply of both food and power for Americans.
