In May, Mesabi Metallics CEO and members of his team visited Bemidji State University as part of the 2026 Technology, Art & Design Advisory Board!

🌲 The visit provided an opportunity to engage with university leadership, learn more about academic programs preparing tomorrow’s workforce and discuss the skills and experiences that will be needed as Mesabi Metallics advances toward full operations.

🌲 A special thank you to Abby and the entire Bemidji State team for their hospitality, insightful discussions and campus tour. Partnerships with institutions like BSU play an important role in developing the next generation of professionals across engineering, skilled trades, operations, business and technology.

(The visit also featured two BSU alumni: our CEO, Joe, and Cassie from the CEO’s Office. We like to think they made the university proud, but we’ll let the faculty decide that… 🦫🎓)

Safe to say the return of sunshine and green grass has done wonders for morale around here — and for our social media team, who can finally stop asking our drone pilot if the trees are green enough yet.

The fresh season is matching the momentum on site, too. Last week, we officially surpassed 1,000 workers on site as progress continues booming at Mesabi Metallics. Full steam ahead into what’s shaping up to be a very busy summer!

With generous support from Mesabi Metallics , four area students were awarded $1,000 scholarships to support their post-secondary education and career goals. Recipients are thoughtfully selected by our Chamber Ambassadors, who review each application.

• Addison Meyer: 2-year scholarship recipient

Traditionally, the Chamber awards two scholarships each year, but due to the strength of this year’s applications and the support of Mesabi Metallics, the Chamber Board voted to award four.

Last Wednesday, we officially commissioned our Komatsu P&H 2800XPB electric rope shovel at Mesabi Metallics — a major milestone as we continue advancing operations on site and building the future of mining on the Iron Range.

From assembly to commissioning, it’s been incredible watching this machine come to life. Exciting things ahead. 👏
