Think About It Thursday:
Should I file an insurance claim on my roof?
This is always a great question to ask. The answer is simple, it depends.
Is very important to always have your roof checked by a professional to determine if there could be potential storm damage that would be covered by insurance.
If there are active leaks, it is always advised to have a professional contractor perform an inspection prior to filing your claim so that they can determine the source of the leak. Many times a leak is the result of a broken seal or improperly installed flashing. These types of issues are commonly not covered by insurance and typically are less than your deductible.
If you ask any insurance agent, the last thing you want on your insurance, history is a non-paid claim. While it does not affect your rate directly, it does show that there could be potential issues with the property when shopping insurance.
When issues arise, it’s always advised to have a professional determine the source of the issue. When the questions of insurance come up, you always want to be sure that the cost to repair the damage is higher than your deductible.
At KDO Enterprises, our owner is a licensed insurance adjuster, who knows the ins and outs of the insurance industry.
