Backpacks for Kids Drive: A Success Story

This week, Nauset Construction proudly wrapped up our annual “Backpacks for Kids” drive. Thanks to the generosity of our partners and team members, we raised over $2,000 and delivered brand new backpacks and essential school supplies to the Backpacks for Kids Foundation.

Special thanks to ​Stonegate Group and A&E Fire Protection Inc. for their impactful donations, and to the Nauset team at 45 East Central Street for rallying big support with heart and hustle. Your contributions helped ensure students in need start the school year prepared and confident.

We’re proud to share that Nauset Construction has officially broken ground at 49 Sixth Street in East Cambridge!

This project will transform the historic Sacred Heart church rectory and school into 46 energy-efficient, 100% affordable homes, preserving the site’s architectural legacy while addressing urgent housing needs.

In partnership with POAH, DMS Design, Urban Spaces, WoodoxGroup, Epsilon Associates, the City of Cambridge, and the Massachusetts Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities, this effort reflects what’s possible through public-private collaboration and purposeful design.

Together, we’re building vibrant, inclusive, and sustainable communities across Greater Boston.

🚧 Big moves at 1180 Boylston Street in Brookline! 🏗️

This past week, we assembled a 275 ton hydraulic crane and installed flitch beams—a powerhouse combo of wood and steel that helps support long spans in tight urban spaces. 💪

This six-story, mixed-use project will bring 50 luxury apartments (age 55+), 6,500 SF of retail, and two levels of underground parking to the heart of Chestnut Hill. Designed by and built by , it’s a game-changer for the neighborhood.

We are thrilled to acknowledge Mason Doncaster for his outstanding contributions as an Assistant Project Superintendent during his co-op at Nauset. Mason's academic background in construction management from Wentworth has been instrumental in his role.

Mason faced new challenges with remarkable resilience and adaptability. Stepping into the role of Assistant Superintendent on various sites, he navigated the complexities of management with no prior experience. Through proactive communication with subcontractors and fellow Nauset colleagues, Mason quickly learned the intricacies of field operations and project management.

Throughout his co-op, Mason also embraced modern technology, utilizing PlanGrid, Autodesk-Build, and the Autodesk Construction Cloud to document and manage project progress. His exposure to these tools has not only enhanced his organizational skills but also prepared him for the evolving technological landscape in construction. Additionally, Mason's involvement in a sustainable, Passive House project in Somerville exposed him to Nauset’s commitment to innovative and energy-efficient building practices. We appreciate Mason's dedication and hard work during his Nauset co-op. Congratulations, Mason!
