Jenkins Independent Schools would like to express our sincere appreciation to Coach Devin Newsome for his dedicated service and leadership of the Jenkins High School Baseball program.
Coach Newsome has done a tremendous job with our student-athletes over the past 5 seasons, not only developing successful baseball players, but also serving as a strong role model, mentor, and positive influence in the lives of countless young men. His commitment to character, accountability, sportsmanship, and teamwork helped create a culture that extends far beyond the baseball field.
Under Coach Newsome's leadership, the Cavalier Baseball program has shown steady growth and improvement, culminating in a remarkable 2026 season. This year's team recorded the program's most wins since 2018 and finished with Jenkins Baseball's first .500-or-better season since 2018. The Cavaliers also finished among the Top 10 teams in the 14th Region in RPI rankings and ranked second in the entire state of Kentucky with 249 stolen bases as a team.
While these accomplishments are certainly worth celebrating, Coach Newsome's greatest success has been the positive impact he has made on the young people he has coached. He has represented Jenkins Independent Schools with integrity, passion, and pride while helping build a foundation that will benefit the program for years to come.
We are grateful for Coach Newsome's dedication to our students, our baseball program, and our community. Please join us in thanking him for his service and wishing him the very best in the future.
