An expedited shipment can solve an urgent problem. If your team needs one every week, it may be pointing to a larger one. Look at when the orders are released, how often inventory is replenished, and how much time is built in before the customer needs the product. A shipment that leaves “on schedule” can still require a rush if the schedule never allowed enough time for transit.

For manufacturers, that can mean parts arriving just as a production run is about to start. For construction suppliers, it can mean materials arriving after the crew is already on site. The useful question isn’t only, “How fast can we move this load?” It’s also, “What keeps making this load urgent?”

Your freight is ready on Friday. Your customer can’t receive it until Tuesday. Where does it go in between?

For manufacturers and construction suppliers, the delivery date is only one part of the plan. Receiving hours, dock appointments, unloading equipment, and available storage all affect whether a shipment can actually be delivered.

Before booking a load, confirm:
• When can the customer receive it?
• Is a delivery appointment required?
• Who will unload it, and with what equipment?
• What happens if the truck arrives early?

These details are easy to miss when everyone is focused on getting the product out the door. Getting them right can help avoid a truck waiting at a closed dock, a missed appointment, or an unexpected charge.
