During the restoration of the St. Joseph County Courthouse rotunda, our team uncovered an elaborate historic decorative scheme concealed beneath generations of overpaint, including intricate scrollwork, faux bois finishes, and richly detailed ornamental panels. Through traditional decorative painting techniques and meticulous plaster restoration, these long-lost details were brought back to life based on historic evidence. The project also included the conservation of six historic murals, restoring their original color, depth, and clarity after decades of accumulated varnish and deterioration. Swipe to see how craftsmanship, conservation, and historic research transformed this remarkable space.
