We had a job today to replace an ICC bumper on a fuel trailer. The old bumper was extremely roted and was no longer legal on the truck. We replaced it with a new piece of tube which will make it legal again and put the strength back in the bumper.

Had a job request to repair the side arm on a brush hog 3 point hitch hook up. It had been welded several times before and kept breaking either above or below the weld each time. We took the opportunity to bevel and re weld the arm back together then we plated the entire arm over the weld strengthening the entire arm.

Recieved a phone call to fix a idler wheel on a Kubota mowing deck. We have been called out to fix many of these on several different style mowers. They stick out farther than the mower and are the first thing to catch anything while mowing. Naturally why we fix a ton of them. If you have an idler wheel on your mower that needs repaired give us a call and we would be glad to take a look at it.

We added some cross bracing under this flat bed trailer to stop it from bending. They are supposed to flex in certain ways but this trailer was flexing in wrong ways with a load on it. Hopefully these new cross members stop that unwanted flex and alow it to still flex they way it's supposed to. For all your welding needs give us a call at Prentice & Sons Welding we would love to help you out.

So this is late and I apologize for that. Here are the pictures of the last trophy and the other trophy together. If the guy in both pictures looks familiar, well because he is. Money Mat Williamson won the first trophy last Wednesday and then turned around and won the second trophy on Sunday. Not only was this awesome to be able to build these trophies and some pride and love in this sport more than I do, but to turn around and have the same driver win both of the trophies I made and it is a driver that I love to watch race, it just made the whole thing that much more special. I would have loved one of my home track boys to win one of the trophies. That would have meant just as much to me, if not more. My whole family got to come and support me and the business. If not for them, this would not be possible. I just want to say thanks to my mom and dad for always supporting me in all my crazy ideas. My sister and brother in law for always being there when I ask. My niece for being the best and always keeping me young. My boys for always helping with the buisness and putting up with me. And most of all my wife. My biggest supporter of all. Never afraid to tell me what I need to hear and always there beside me, even when I need her to pick up steel or hold something while I weld it. No matter what, she is the reason why I am able to do what I do.

We recieved a job for a weld on cutting edge replacement. The old edge had well out lived it's life on this bucket. Most spots were 2" narrow than it was supposed to be and some were up to 3". The blade is supposed to be 6" wide.

For those that do not know weld on cutting edges are great. You never have to worry about loosing them breaking or wearing bolts off, but when time to change them you can not just unbolt like the bolt on one's. They need to be cut off and re-welded back in on.

So we started by cutting off the old edge (this may require cutting back into the bucket a little or trying to remove just the edge and saving the bucket to not loose the bucket this all depends how many times it has been changed). Sense this was the first time we took 2" off the bucket. This did two things removed the old blade and got rid of any defects that may have been in the bucket from old blade. Then we prepped the surface for the new blade. This required a lot of grinding and being a used bucket not new there is more than just rust to take off. Once all the surface was prepped then we could cut and fit up the new blade onto the bucket. Once all was fit and tac in place it was time to weld. After 5 hours of welding the blade is on the bucket ready for its next journey in life.

In total it takes roughly 10 to 11 hours to do a 6' bucket. These are fun jobs for us at Prentice & Sons Welding because we get to use a mass variety of our equipment that we do not get to on most jobs. These jobs bring out all the toys as we like to say.
