The finish line is getting closer on our Elm Street project in Scranton! ๐Ÿ‘ทโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐ŸŒ‰
Earlier this week, we opened the new bridge to pedestrian traffic, which meant it was finally time to remove the 160-foot temporary bridge.
Using two cranes working in tandem, the crew safely lifted the 100,000 lb structure from its foundations, maneuvered it below the overhead wires, and set it alongside the new bridge for final disassembly.
Great work by the entire crew making another major milestone happen safely and efficiently as we continue wrapping up this project.

Our SR 435 project is cruising right along ๐Ÿšง
In just a few short weeks, the crew successfully demolished the existing 6-span monolithic concrete and steel through girder bridge! ๐Ÿ—๏ธ
While it marks the end of an era for a beautiful old structure, we are excited to be a part of the next chapter here in Elmhurst.
Excavation is already underway, and we are ready to start coming out of the ground with the new construction.
Great work by the crews tasked with safely removing the old structure and getting the site cleaned up and ready for the next phase! ๐Ÿ‘ ๐ŸŒ‰

It was a major team effort to pour 120 cubic yards of concrete bridge deck at our Cumberland County York Road project last week. ๐Ÿ‘ทโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿšง
Deck pour days are some of the busiest on any job, and this one was no different. We had some extra hands from our other crews pitching in, plus one of our in-house mechanics was onsite to make sure the Bidwell ran smoothlyโ€ฆpun intended. ๐Ÿ˜„
And the finish line is in sight, within just a few short weeks, York Road will be ready to open back up to traffic!

We held our annual Company Safety Meeting yesterday ๐Ÿ‘ทโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿฆบ
There were some great guest speakers that shared real stories and reminders that hit home about working smart and staying safe out on our projects.
At SVCC, it's always a top priority for safety and working together to make sure everyone makes it home in one piece.
We wrapped things up with a great lunch, sweet company swag and a nice chance for the different crews to catch up with each other.
It is also always a special treat to have some of our retirees stop by for lunch.
It's always good to reconnect with the ones who helped get us where we are today!
Special thanks to our Safety Department for organizing another successful Safety Meeting ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ› ๏ธ

This week, some of our crew members were in the office completing the American Concrete Institute Adhesive Anchor Installer Certification.
We have also had several employees sharpening their skills through additional construction-related training courses this month.
At SVCC, we put time into our crew so theyโ€™ve got the skills and training to work safe, work smart, and get the job done right for another safe and successful season.

We officially switched traffic over to the temporary bridge and roadway at our SR 435 Elmhurst project.
Now to start excavating the existing fill and removing the old concrete arch bridge.
This normally goes pretty quickly, except he ground is frozen solid.
Itโ€™s not every day you have to put a breaker on just to dig dirt!

After a long, busy construction season, winter is the perfect time to give our equipment some well-deserved TLC. โ„๏ธ๐Ÿ”ง
Weโ€™re lucky to have a large shop bay with plenty of space to handle this massive CAT 336 excavator. A slow Friday afternoon also makes a great opportunity for a little touch-up paint to keep things looking sharp.
Huge shout-out to our shop crew for keeping our equipment running strong and looking good all year long! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ’ช

๐Ÿšง Project Update โ€“ York Road ๐ŸŒˆ
Last week, our crew teamed up with Iron Stag Crane Service and Kee-Ta Quay Construction to hit another milestone on the York Road project.
The 102' adjacent beams, furnished by Northeast Prestressed Products, LLC were successfully installed over the Yellow Breeches Creek just as a storm cleared and a rainbow made a surprise appearance in the background.
We didnโ€™t find a pot of gold this time, but we are thankful for the golden effort by all to close out the year on a high note.

๐Ÿšง Elm Street Update ๐Ÿšง
We successfully set the Span 1 box beams (manufactured by Northeast Prestressed Products, LLC) on the Elm Street project yesterday.
Do those wires look a little too close? They were โ€” but donโ€™t worry!
Due to the close proximity of overhead transmission lines, a planned power outage was coordinated to ensure a safe lift.
We also made progress driving piles on site. Great planning, clear communication, and strong teamwork helped us safely execute another key project milestone. ๐Ÿ‘
