Is my system too big for my house?
Most people never ask this. They assume if the AC cools and the furnace heats, the system is doing its job.
But here's what an oversized HVAC system actually does:
It cools your home in 8 minutes, shuts off, and cycles back on 10 minutes later. Over and over. All day. Never running long enough to actually pull the humidity out of the air β which is the other half of what makes a Missouri summer livable.
The house reads 72 on the thermostat but still feels thick and uncomfortable. Energy bills are higher than they should be. The system wears out faster because constant starting and stopping is harder on equipment than sustained operation.
The fix isn't a repair call. It's a proper load calculation β an engineering assessment of what your home actually needs β before the next system is specified.
At Keeven, every replacement conversation starts with the right sizing calculation, not with a guess based on what was there before.
If your system has never felt quite right β this might be why.
