With the incoming frigid temperatures, please remember that if you are using space heaters. DO NOT plug them into a power strip or extension cord, as this can create a fire risk. Space heaters should only be plugged directly into a wall outlet. Stay warm and stay safe!

**THERE'S SOME GOOD INFORMATION/ADVICE HERE**
Late Thursday and going into the weekend we all will experience temperatures and wind chills that our homes' heating systems are NOT designed for. -20 to -30-degree temperatures with wind chills into -40 and up to -50+.
Newer homes will struggle to maintain temperature and older homes will NOT maintain temperature and the temperature WILL drop while the heating system is working at full capacity.
1. Please raise the temperature in your home on Thursday, 2 to 4 degrees above your normal setting.
2. Take all programmable thermostats out of setback mode and set on a permanent HOLD.
3. If you have a furnace; replace the filter.
4. Keep garage doors closed.
5. Limit opening exterior doors.
6. Make sure air vents and radiators are not blocked or obstructed.
7. If you have a 90%+ furnace and boiler: You must keep the intake and exhaust clear of ice and snow. During these cold temperatures, ice can build up. A 90%+ furnace and boiler have 2 white PVC pipes; an exhaust pipe and an intake pipe that are generally on the side or back of your home. In some instances, they are on your roof, do NOT go on your roof to clear the pipe.
If the temperature in your home is dropping and your radiators are HOT with boiler systems or you have HOT air coming out of your vents with furnaces DO NOT PANIC. Please make sure that your heating system continues to operate.
If the temperatures drop in your home, it will not be able to recover until temperatures rise and the windchill diminishes. Our heating systems cannot overcome temperatures -20 to -30 with wind chill up to -50+. They are sized to operate at 0 degrees outdoor. Put your thermostat on hold 70 degrees or higher.
To help minimize temperature loss you can boil water, make soup, or stews; they help introduce humidity and warmer temperatures into your home. DO NOT USE YOUR OVEN or a GRILL TO HEAT YOUR HOME. Please check on neighbors and elderly residents during these extreme temperatures. Stay warm and safe this week and share this email with any of your family and friends.

They also celebrated the wedding of this same son to his bride Erin. HAPPY BIRHDAY David Randall Francis !

Today is it! Today is the day! Today starts the week of Cherries' birthday! Yes every one has birthdays. But Cherrie gets a birthweek. If you call today you'll just get some old guy, because she will be celebrating with her Mom and Sister. But.... if you call tomorrow, be sure to tell her HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Most any time you call, Cherrie will be the happy voice you hear. And on the off chance your message wasn't returned...I can guarantee that it was delivered and she wasn't the one to drop the ball.

Right now Cherrie's favorite time is..... ready..... "FRIDAY NIGHTS WITH GRAMMY"! She loves those grands!

As you may have already heard, extreme temps may be heading our direction this weekend.

What does that mean for your AC unit? In extreme heat, your AC unit will likely struggle to keep up and may not be able to maintain a consistently cool temperature, especially if the outdoor temperature exceeds 100 degrees Fahrenheit. While it will still function, it may run more often, consume more energy, and potentially experience reduced efficiency or even breakdowns. Also, keep curtains closed and contrary to what some people may think.... turning down the thermostat on a very hot day WILL NOT make your house cool down faster. Setting the thermostat to a lower temperature than needed will not increase the cooling capacity of your air conditioner. Your air conditioner will simply work longer to reach the set temperature.

FYI - You can set your temp to what is comfortable for you. But let the ac get to the desired temp before the heat wave. Maybe even a little colder than normal to give it room to lose ground in the heat of the day. Don't wait until you're hot and expect it to catch up.

The 11th month, the 11th day, the 11th hr. The very moment treaties were signed that ended World War 1. This moment in time became what we now know as veterans day the official time for our veterans memorial day.

Thank you to all veterans, in all branches of service, for the sacrifices you have made for us and our country. Also a thank you to David Francis our resident veteran.
