I have been quiet for much longer than I planned. But, I promise it’s for a good reason. I took on work as a woodworking/carpenter assistant. Which means I’ve been busy learning and cleaning and getting used to a new space. Looking forward to sharing some fun things as I gain some new skills and try some new things.

It’s not van work, but damn does it feel good to bust out the power tools again.

Anatomy of a rebuild: Took on this project for the van owner who wanted a redo of this diy build.

Left slice: Van with its prior build when it came to us. Wood was untreated and van was minimally insulated, paneling didn’t sit flush with the metal, cutting in to precious indoor space.

Middle slice: we ripped everything out down to the bare metal, added a fan for ventilation, insulated every nook and cranny with mineral wool and rigid foam, installed rattle trap to wheel wells and walls for a quiet ride, and sealed up all the screw holes in the metal frame from the first build.

Right slice: The finished foundation! Replaced the walls with clear coated plywood paneling, added new vinyl flooring with aluminum trim to protect the edges and sanded and clear coated the pine ceiling boards for a gorgeous, spacious and warm interior! Complete with fuse block, reading and puck lights, and easily accessible dc outlets for charging devices this van is ready for adventure!

Great girlfriend takeover day # I’ve lost track: And just like that the bed platform is in!!! This spacious bed platform has room for the whole family. Window frames provide a perfect shelf for your morning coffee mug and book and reading lights are conveniently located on each side. This bed is a dream!
