More than 1 in 10 adults in our state of Louisiana are living with diabetes. This isn’t just a statistic—it’s a daily reality for hundreds of thousands of families.
That’s why I have stepped forward as a Kiss a Pig candidate for the annual American Diabetes Association® Gala.
I have lost my godfather and other loved ones to complications associated with diabetes. I have witnessed what this disease does—not in theory, but in real time. The gradual toll, the complications, the moments where you hope for better options, more effective treatments, or earlier interventions. Those experiences didn’t just influence my career path—they defined my mission.
This is more than a campaign—it is an opportunity to bridge science, community, and action. It is about raising awareness, generating resources, and engaging people in a cause that requires all of us—from scientists to patients to policymakers.
If stepping outside my comfort zone—even to the point of kissing a pig—helps spark conversations, mobilize support, and accelerate progress in diabetes research and innovation, then I am fully committed.
This fight is personal—but it is also purposeful. Join me in changing the narrative of our lives. Every dollar we raise helps fund research, education, and advocacy for people living with diabetes.
