Nobody remembers the day a staircase was built.
They remember running down it on Christmas morning. Sitting on the third step waiting for a date to knock. Carrying a newborn up it for the first time, one careful step at a time.
Nobody remembers who hung the porch swing, either. They remember the long talks on it after dark. Rocking a baby to sleep. Sitting next to someone and not needing to say anything at all.
That's the part of this work that gets me. We cut and fit and fasten, then hand it over and walk away. But the wood stays. It holds the weight of a family's ordinary days for decades, long after anyone thinks about the hands that built it.
Build it right, and it becomes part of somebody's life.
What's a piece of your home that holds a memory for you?
