Traditionally this would be a day where the Compagnons would showcase their masterpiece projects for the town to see. Here is a picture of our owner Julien with his Masterpiece project.

We’re proud to celebrate Preservation Month with !

Picardie is proud to sponsor the 2023 Holiday Home Tour by 🎄 Visit the tour this weekend, Dec. 9-10, and view Picardie’s intricate work to restore McGehee’s Main Building at 2343 Prytania Street. Originally the Bradish Johnson House, it was built in 1872 as a private family residence and was acquired by McGehee in 1929. Picardie's work preserved the historic integrity and detailed ornamentation of this New Orleans landmark. To begin, Picardie surveyed the building to assess damage, develop a scope of work, and match the original historic detail. Picardie then replaced the millwork, including windows, stairs, porches, and components. Picardie built 18 columns, 36 newel posts, 600 spindles, louvered wood shutters, and the railing assembly; replaced floor decking; and restored the original cast iron capitals. In addition, Picardie restored around 40 wood-frame windows and re-leveled the framing of the porch and decks. This gorgeous project, completed with .build , began in December 2022.

Our Story

Before founding Picardie Timber Frame + Millwork, Christina Worms completed her M. Arch degree at the University of Florida, after which she worked for several architectural firms as a designer and project manager. A bulk of her work was spent at the State of Mississippi’s Department of Archives and History as a preservation specialist, managing projects and completing Section 106 reviews.

During this time her partner/husband, Julien Worms, was working for an international company based out of Indonesia where he traveled to exotic locations managing the installation of timber frame structures. Prior to this work, Julien completed 10 years with the Compagnons du devoirs which is an elite training “guild” in France that dates to the middle ages and the construction of cathedrals.

During her work, Christina noticed a need for millwork manufacturing using traditional joinery methods. With Julien’s advanced knowledge of wood, woodwork, and joinery, along with Christina’s knowledge of architecture and historical preservation, they started Picardie Timber Frame + Millwork in 2009 in New Orleans.

Since that time, Picardie has grown to more than 25 full time employees and is housed on a 67,000+ square foot property in the Bywater
