☀️🌍 The Sun just launched a storm toward Earth.

A recent coronal mass ejection (CME) is heading our way, and NOAA has issued geomagnetic storm watches for August 27–29.

When charged particles from the Sun interact with Earth's magnetic field, they can create one of nature's most incredible sights — the aurora. 🌌

If the storm strengthens, parts of the U.S. could get a spectacular sky show.

🔭 NASA is about to launch a telescope that could change how we map the universe.

The Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope is targeted to launch on August 30, 2026.

With a field of view roughly 100× larger than Hubble's, Roman will survey enormous areas of the sky while searching for clues about dark energy, dark matter, and thousands of new worlds. 🌌

Hubble showed us incredible views of the universe. What will Roman discover?

🌍 Two numbers can tell you exactly where you are on Earth.

Latitude tells us how far north or south we are from the Equator.

Longitude tells us how far east or west we are from the Prime Meridian.

Put them together, and you can pinpoint a location anywhere on Earth. 📍🌎

For example, New York City is roughly 40.7° N, 74.0° W.

🚀 Starship is about to attempt something it has never done before.

SpaceX is preparing Starship Flight 14 for its first attempt to reach orbit and return to Earth.

After a successful static-fire test, the next big challenge is simple to say—but incredibly difficult to achieve:

Launch → Orbit → Re-entry → Return. 🌎🚀

If successful, this could be a major step toward making Starship a truly reusable spacecraft.

🌕🔴 The Moon is about to turn red.

On August 27–28, the Moon will pass deep into Earth's shadow during a deep partial lunar eclipse.

In New York, the eclipse reaches its maximum around 12:12 AM EDT, with about 94% of the Moon inside Earth's darkest shadow.

And no—the Moon isn't actually turning red. 🌎☀️
Earth's atmosphere is filtering the sunlight and casting that eerie red glow onto the Moon.

🚀 Meet S301 — the fastest known star in the Milky Way.

This incredible star can reach nearly 15,500 miles per second—about 8.3% the speed of light—as it races around the supermassive black hole at the center of our galaxy. 🌌

And its closest approach is roughly comparable to the distance between the Sun and Saturn. 🤯

🚀 **100 launches in 2026… and the year isn’t even over.**

SpaceX just hit its **100th mission of the year**, with a Falcon 9 launching another batch of Starlink satellites from California.

🌑🚀 **NASA FOUND THE CRATER.**

A Falcon 9 upper stage impacted the Moon on August 5—and NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter has now captured the **new impact crater**.

It's about **60 feet (18 meters) wide** and less than **10 feet (3 meters) deep**.

NASA is now studying the crater and the material thrown across the lunar surface. 🌕🔭

🌌 **The Milky Way once swallowed another galaxy.**
About **11.8 billion years ago**, our young galaxy merged with a smaller galaxy called **LKH**—helping shape the Milky Way we live in today.
And the crazy part? **Our Solar System exists inside the galaxy that grew from these ancient cosmic mergers.** 🌍☀️

🌠 **Don't be fooled by the “shooting stars” you see in the night sky.**

They aren't stars at all.

The **Perseid meteor shower** comes from tiny pieces of debris left behind by **Comet Swift-Tuttle**. When Earth passes through that debris, the particles hit our atmosphere at incredible speeds and create those brilliant streaks of light. ☄️🌍

So the next time you see a “shooting star”… you'll know what's really happening.
