Lassa fever is a deadly virus endemic in West Africa. Recent article published linkage between Lassa fever virus transmission with ecological factors. Researchers investigated exposure to this virus in different regions of Guinea: peoples in fragmented forested site have more histories of infection compared to other zones such as coastal regions. The study highlights the importance of proper ecosystems management in Guinea.

We see a lot of information is floating around on OMICRON variant. This is just another variant of SARS-CoV-2 (B.1.1.529) like its millions of cousins, first detected in Gauteng province of South Africa this week. Data is yet to come out, epidemiologic investigations are in place, might be more infectious but not based on data. This is a variant of concern, don’t be panicked but keep vigilant.
