Exciting news! Our first commercial PolyCartridge system has officially been delivered to our industrial partner. ๐ŸŽ‰

While our PolyPod system is designed for municipal wastewater, the PolyCartridge is a specialized in-line solution engineered to remove microplastics from industrial wastewater in sectors like textiles, manufacturing, and food & beverage. ๐Ÿญ

Industrial wastewater often lacks adequate treatment for microplastics, and thatโ€™s exactly the gap PolyCartridge is built to close, offering these facilities a simple, cost-effective way to intercept pollution at the source. ๐Ÿ’ง

Welcome Jeremy Kim to the PolyGone team! ๐Ÿงช

Jeremy joins us as our new microplastic lab analyst, supporting microplastic collection and water sample analysis using fluorescence microscopy, FTIR, and Pyrolysis GC/MS, providing detailed data on microplastic count, size, morphology, and composition. Jeremy earned both his B.A. and M.A. from Wesleyan University, where he conducted research on the synthesis of strained molecules to investigate novel polymers with new properties, aiming to advance more sustainable and renewable materials. With hands-on experience in a polymer chemistry lab, Jeremy brings strong analytical and technical expertise to his work in environmental sustainability. โ™ป๏ธ

Recycling is messy and complicated, but proved to us it's far from impossible. โ™ป๏ธ

Last week, Polygone got the chance to visit their HQ and left genuinely inspired. TerraCycle is a fellow New Jersey-based environmental company doing really cool things, and walking through their space, you start to see just how much of what we throw away actually has a second life.

Cigarette butts. Old sneakers. Everyday packaging. They're building the processes to handle it all at scale. Their Loop platform is already getting reusable and recyclable packaging onto shelves for brands people shop every day. Even the building itself (see the pictures ๐Ÿ‘€) tells the story of how they think!

We're taking a lot back with us as we build out waste-handling pipelines for the microplastics we collect. Grateful for the tour and the conversation! Letโ€™s continue working together towards a waste-free world. โœจ๐ŸŒŽ

We are thrilled to announce that we have raised aย $4 Million Seed round, led byย FYRFLY Venture Partners, with participation from Tech Council Ventures, Golden Seeds, Interstate Fusion Ventures, angel investors and the NJ Innovation Evergreen Fund.

With the seed funding, PolyGone will produce and deploy our first commercial municipal PolyPod systems, designed to treat up to 10 million gallons of water per day for microplastic pollutants. We will also launch a new inline PolyCartridge filtration system for industrial water streams.

The Plastic Free July movement embodies finding actionable solutions to remove plastic waste. In 2021, PolyGone Systems was co-founded by Yidian Liu and Nathaniel Banks to create an innovative solution that analyzes, monitors, and removes microplastic pollutants from water bodies. PolyGone developed the Plastic Hunter device which monitors and collects microplastics from remote aquatic environments. Currently PolyGone's team is working on multiple pilot projects to test and introduce its technology to the world.
