The restaurant crawl will last approximately 2 hours, and guests will pay $10 or less for one dish at each location. Along the way, participants will be stopping at historical landmarks memorializing the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

The Harlem walk begins at the lobby of the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture on 515 Malcolm X Boulevard, at the intersection of 135th Street. Please arrive by 4:00 PM.

In honor of 's 10th Anniversary, we're sharing a throwback to the FIT Pomerantz Lobby Renovation Project! ⁠
⁠
is an annual public art project hosted by and created by seniors in the Illustration program. Each year, the FIT community is invited to make street art using chalk pastels on the exterior of FIT's Pomerantz and Goodman buildings.⁠
⁠
Vanguard completed the renovation for the 5,500 SF double-height lobby, which was reclaimed from a former exterior sidewalk at an active subway entrance. Multiple phases utilizing temporary walls maintained safe egress for FIT students, staff, and passersby while installing the structural steel and full height curtain wall along the W 27th Street and 7th Avenue. Interior columns were clad with limestone sourced to match existing. Scope also included extensive coordination of sidewalk shed with NYC DOT and MTA. Designed by David Smotrich & Partners LLP, the lobby was completed in time to welcome students back for the 2018 Fall semester. ⁠

Vanguard announces our Joseph P. Addabbo Family Health Center project has achieved LEEDv2009 Certification. In partnership with Gertler & Wente Architects, ICOR Associates, GACE Consulting Engineers, Bohler Engineering, SYSKA Hennessy Group, SBLD Studio, KOW Building Consultants, and with Denham Wolf and New England Consulting Partners representing ownership, Vanguard as Construction Manager built a multi-story, ground-up addition to this critical healthcare facility servicing the Arverne community in Queens, NY.

This recognition underscores our support of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design and their commitment to sustainable practices that prioritize user comfort while minimizing environmental impact.

We congratulate the entire Joseph P. Addabbo Family Health Center project team for this remarkable achievement. Our collaboration demonstrates how shared vision and teamwork can transform a neighborhood for all.

Our founder and avid gardener, Michael Strauss, loves to share his thriving roses grown in the heart of the city! His May blooms include old garden roses such as David Austin’s Munstead Wood and Abraham Darby, or the cherry-red climber, Dublin Bay. Michael believes there is a lot in common between gardening and construction – one must be patient, resilient, and unafraid to rip things out to start over again!

An American Rose Society member, Michael has grown and shown roses for 35 years, most recently winning 22 First, Second, and Third Place ribbons out of 24 entries. He insists, he isn’t competitive.
