Engineers at University of Oxford have developed a faster and cheaper way to build soft robots. Using just a vacuum sealer and desktop laser cutter, each unit takes under 10 minutes to make and costs less than 10 cents in materials.

The approach strips out the expensive elastomers and complex molding that traditionally make robotics inaccessible, opening the field up to more researchers and educators worldwide.
