We had the pleasure of hosting Math, Computer Science, Robotics, and Engineering teachers from across New York City for a CNC Workshop in partnership with Math for America led by the incredible Joel Bianchi at the NYC FIRST STEM Center at Andrew Freedman Home (The Bronx).
Throughout the workshop, educators explored how CNC technology can support project-based learning and provide students with hands-on experience using the same digital fabrication tools found in modern manufacturing and engineering industries. Participants designed custom desk nameplates in CAD using Onshape, prepared CAM files, and fabricated their projects on a ShopBot CNC machine while discussing strategies for bringing these tools and learning experiences into their own classrooms and maker-spaces .
It was wonderful to welcome such a passionate group of educators and introduce more teachers to the STEM Center that NYC FIRST operates at the in the Bronx. Thank you to everyone who joined us for a day of learning, collaboration, skill-building, and hands-on innovation.
We look forward to continuing to build a strong community of educators dedicated to expanding STEM opportunities and creating authentic, real-world learning experiences for students across NYC.
