Pyvot will be exhibiting at EAS 2024 at the Crowne Plaza Princeton Conference Center in Plainsboro, NJ, between Monday, November 18th and Wednesday, November 20th in collaboration with Chromanik Technologies and Biotech Fluidics. We will feature the Sunbridge HPLC technology, which is an advanced end-capping that significantly increases durability. This hybrid silica can be used up to pH of 12.

The Chemical Evaluation Research Institute (CERI), manufacturer of the L-Column Series recently presented its poster at HPLC 2024 in Denver Colorado. The poster entitled "Unlocking the Potential of Basic Compounds Analysis Through pH Optimization Using a High Alkali-Resistant Column in RPLC Analysis" reveals the advantages of the L-Column3 series.

Silica-based columns are a staple in reversed-phase liquid chromatography (RPLC) due to their excellent separation efficiency and mechanical strength. However, their vulnerability to alkaline solutions limits their application.

The L-column3 addresses this limitation with its enhanced chemical stability, featuring highly alkali-resistant PCS (Perfectly Chemically Stable) silica and advanced end-capping, enabling the effective use of alkaline eluents.

Experimental Highlights:

· Durability tests at pH 1 and pH 12 demonstrated L-column3’s exceptional stability in both acidic and alkaline environments, even at elevated temperatures (50°C).
· Performance comparisons revealed L-column3's superior low adsorption while delivering sharp peaks for basic, acidic, and coordination compounds.

Advancements in Reversed-Phase Analysis with L-column3:
· Optimizing eluent pH significantly improved the retention behavior and peak shape of basic compounds.
· The use of alkaline eluents notably enhanced the detection of gentamicin sulfate, allowing the identification of five gentamicins and 22 related impurities.
· Employing ammonia solution as an eluent led to a remarkable 3.9x improvement in the signal-to-noise ratio for 119 out of 120 pesticides, compared to ammonium acetate.

Conclusion: L-column3 offers superior stability and low adsorption across a wide pH range (1-12). This flexibility in utilizing alkaline eluents brings substantial benefits in separation, peak shape, loading capacity, and sensitivity in the RPLC analysis of basic compounds.

Pyvot in collaboration with Chromanik Technologies, Bionik, and Biotech Fluidics exhibited at ASMS 2024. Unfortunately, the team from Japan could not make it to Anaheim due to back-to-back flight cancellations. Despite this sudden change, the show proved to be a big success as we met many of our customers, new prospects as well as some old friends and colleagues. I learned so much. Honestly, this has to be one of the most well-organized shows that I've ever exhibited at. Thank you American Society For Mass Spectrometry (ASMS). There was a lot of interest in our micro and nano columns for LC/MS as well as our Biphenyl columns. Additionally, others expressed interest in the components included in our fluidic plate, especially the liquid flow meter.

During the JASIS 2023 show back in September, I visited CERI, a company with which we have been collaborating for a long time. CERI's HPLC Columns, especially the L Column series, have earned a strong reputation in Japan. Many of our customers have developed loyalty by obtaining excellent results from their initial use, often through method transfers from Japan. We have a significant number of customers who choose the CERI L Series as their go-to column when developing a new method.

I would like to share some highlights from the JASIS 2023 Japan Analytical and Scientific Instruments Show that I attended back in September at the Makuhari Messe in Chiba...I visited with vendors and learned about new technologies. As Chromanik Technologies and Bionik always support us at our tradeshows, it was nice to spend time with them. At their booth, Chromanik Technologies highlighted their new bonding technology. Additionally, they presented valuable information and advice on HPLC column selection and obtaining the best peak shape, particularly with highly adsorbable compounds. Another presentation shared some important troubleshooting information and advice covering a full range of phases ranging from C18 to HILIC. We collaborate with a company that manufactures a life science (IVD) product utilizing single-use cartridges. During the manufacturing process, they face bubble formation in the cartridges, which can negatively impact the accuracy of their test results.

To address this issue, the team responsible for instrument manufacturing needs a straightforward and reliable method for degassing around 20-50 mL of aqueous fluid. After considering various options, the company found our Degasi Stand Alone Degasser, in combination with a syringe pump, to be an ideal solution. This offering provides ease of use, fulfilling their immediate fluid degassing requirements.
