Meet our boy Louis!
Many of our handymen & contractors are firemen. That being said we thought it would be a great idea to have our family dog Louis as the face of our company. All of the firemen do such a wonderful job in our communities and now do a superb job on MyContractor.com as well. 🐶🚒🔧👨🏼🚒👷🏼♂️

Small space, no problem. Don't let the issue of a small space discourage your green thumb. Utilizing the right tools and the space correctly can work wonders for this DIY project. By growing your garden vertically & integrating hanging pots, crates and old wooden pallets is the best way to plant your small space garden.🌱🌿🌻

You may ask why did a 21-year-old girl start a Home Service Referral Business in the first place?
As a daughter who witnessed a tragic homeowner story; my mission and passion in this industry is to help improve the process of hiring and finding contractors that you can trust in your home. In February of 2014, my parents shared the news to my family that they were the highest bidders on what they were planning to be their dream home. Just like any 1970’s 5,000 sq ft colonial style home, it needed work. Following all the state requirements to conduct a full remodel, they hired a general contractor- ripped the house back to the studs, installed new plumbing, electrical, HVAC, windows & doors. Not only did they want new and improved, but they wanted custom unique features like carved arches, custom ceilings, hard wood and marble floors. It was everything my parents could’ve dreamt of and more.
11 months after they finally moved our family into this beautifully decorated, labor of love home; they discovered something that left us all speechless.
After coming home from a 2-week vacation, we discovered a small trail of water coming out from under the backdoor jamb outside the kitchen. Upon extensive investigation and hearing water under our brand-new hardwood flooring we discovered the cause. The HVAC (AC) Company took a short cut installing our high-tech water chilled air conditioning system that led to over 19,000 gallons of toxic water to seep underneath the freshly installed hardwood floors; which then caused black mold to grow. You may be thinking, “how does an AC contractor manage to do that?” This “qualified” contractor installed the condensation drain line into the Central Vacuum System (whole house cleaning vacuum system) instead of running a new pipe to the exterior of the house like he should have done to meet Florida code. Our HVAC Contractor appeared genuine upon hiring. My Dad checked his references, insurance, Googled the Company checked his Yelp reviews, all the normal things you would do to spot red flags but turned out to have recently moved to Florida from North Carolina due to misconducted installations.
Besides having to deal with over $200,000 worth of damages, the worst was yet to come.
This tragedy not only hurt my parents’ wallets and the savings they had accumulated for their children, but it also hurt my family’s health. Not long after discovering the damage of the home, my father came down with pneumonia and shortly after was diagnosed with a terminal lung disease called Pulmonary Fibrosis and was only given 2 years to live. My whole family felt nothing but pain and sadness as my father is the rock of our family, the thought of him not being around scared us all. Shortly after my father’s diagnoses that was medically proven to be caused by the mold; he believed it would be a good idea for the entire family to be tested for mold toxins. Turns out, we were all infected.
By using one bad contractor, an entire family’s life can change forever.
MyContractor.com was born from my desire to never have anybody go through what I and my family are still experiencing every day.
My Dad and I have channeled our anger into something positive to help great Contractors get ahead and Consumers to trust the Contractors that they hire through MyContractor.com.
With my heart and soul invested in this project I am proud to have created a platform for homeowners, business owners and everyone in between to use.
Stay well and enjoy life!
Isabel Parsloe, CEO
Ps: Dad has just been approved for a Double Lung Transplant and is on the road to a better future.
