🚧 Komatsu will launch the new PC158USLCi-12 in late 2026, making it the company's first short-tail swing excavator with factory-integrated Intelligent Machine Control (iMC) and the second model to feature the latest iMC 3.0 platform
📡 iMC 3.0 introduces a range of advanced automation and machine control functions, including:
• enhanced in-field design capabilities
• upgraded payload meter
• auto swing
• advanced attachment settings
• swing-to-line
• 3D boundary control
• auto-stop functions
The platform also supports over-the-air updates, allowing new features to be added remotely. One of the latest additions is drive-to-line functionality
📍 When excavating pipeline trenches from a 3D design model, operators can lock the machine to the trench centerline and reverse using the travel controls. The excavator automatically stays centered and follows curves in the trench alignment. Combined with swing-to-line, the bucket automatically aligns with the planned 3D design, allowing the operator to focus on digging
🛡️ Safety is further enhanced by 3D boundary control. Operators can set fixed height, depth, and reach limits tied to GPS coordinates rather than the machine itself. These boundaries remain in place regardless of machine movement, preventing the excavator from exceeding predefined work zones
⚙️ Based on the PC138USLC-11 platform, the new machine will be available in two versions:
• PC158USLC-12
• PC158USLCi-12 with iMC 3.0
Preliminary operating weight is 35,715 lb
🔧 The PC158 series uses Komatsu’s EH control system, simplifying technology integration and allowing operators to customize travel controls, programmable buttons, swing priority, and work-speed settings to improve efficiency and reduce fatigue
📊 Contractors choosing the standard PC158USLC-12 still receive a strong technology package, including:
• 2D grade & boundary control
• bucket payload monitoring
• KomVision 360° with person and object detection
• 8-inch touchscreen display
• travel control joystick
