These tiny, mighty little nuggets are even smaller in real life than they appear to be in these photos and they are SUPER sweet & snuggly.
They are all two-months-old and ready to spend the rest of their lives with families who promise to love them forever.

Today marks 45 years since our founder, Joseph L. Sorbera, Sr., took the advice and encouragement of his clients and founded the original JLS as a general contracting firm in service to major Wall Street institutions. Over time we have evolved into the industry leader in construction project management, owner’s representation, cost and change management, and commercial management. And our client base has grown to include finance and banking, retail, education, non-profit, media, law, and many more.

Throughout the decades, and over hundreds of major capital projects throughout New York City, the country, and the world, our core mission has remained the same – to deliver more than expected for our clients.

“I am immensely proud of our achievements over the last 45 years,” said Joseph L. Sorbera, Jr., President of JLS Cost Management Systems Inc. “But what I am most proud of is that relationships we have forged with our clients, many of whom have been with us since the beginning.”

JLS was a proud sponsor of the town of Port Washington, NY’s, first annual Hispanic Heritage Celebration, organized by Diana Delgado-Kollar, the wife of JLS Vice- President of Operations, Christopher Kollar. The celebration was held as a partnership with the Parent Resource Center, where she serves on the board, the Port Washington Public Library and Landmark on Main theater.

Chris, Diana, and their beautiful children, Camilla, Coraline, and Casey were featured in the October issue of Port Washington Living Magazine, an exclusive lifestyle magazine distributed locally. The article focused on the couple, how they met, and how they have made a positive impact in their community. Here's a brief recap of the article:

Christopher and Diana met through mutual friends and participated in New York City's premier society ball, the Quadrille Ball. Chris was named Vice-Chair of the ball's junior committee the year that Diana participated in it. The weekly rehearsals and socials brought the couple together. They married in 2015 in a beautiful ceremony at St. Francis de Sales on Lexington and 96th Street in Manhattan, while their reception was at the Boathouse in Central Park. They enjoyed living in the Upper East Side for several years until their second child was born and they outgrew their apartment. The couple currently lives in Port Washington, located on the north shore of Long Island where they enjoy all the things that proximity to the water has to offer, plus a warm community with a great number of civic and local events throughout the year.

Yesterday we were reminded just what it means to be a "family business" as we celebrated two of our own who exemplify the JLS motto of delivering "more than expected" to our clients.

Lisa Napolitano Budgell takes charge of every project she's on, letting no detail go unnoticed, and has the ability to bring even the most begrudging project team members together to complete the job. We want to thank her for her many years of dedication and friendship and wish her all the best as she moves on to new challenges and warmer weather.

Ronnie Cosoleto is celebrating 20 years at JLS, each one of those marked by hard work, passion, and a cooperative team approach brought to every project he's been on. Anyone who has worked with Ron knows they have a reliable partner in the field, and a good friend in life. Here's to 20 more years!

Recently, a major change in our industry came as the result of passage of New York State Wage Theft Prevention Act. Now, General Contractors will be held liable if the subcontractor does not properly pay their workers. Moreover, the GC now has oversight of a subcontractor’s books and may withhold payment to the sub if certain payroll records cannot be obtained. The bill was enacted to protect workers from being cheated of wages by subs.

The new law creates an additional layer of accountability. It has the potential to level the playing field in addition to reducing wage theft. At the same time, it could also add additional charges for General Contractors as they seek to cover their liability.

Due to the already complex nature of GC contracts, we recommend hiring an independent third-party to help navigate these changes. Under our Cost Management services, JLS provides project controls that can help mitigate these risks.

The measure, which just recently took effect, makes general contractors liable for unpaid wages from any subcontractors

Recently, Director of Special Projects, Lisa Napolitano, was praised by our client, the Department of Motor Vehicles, for showing “tremendous commitment and leadership” in ensuring the swift completion of a major 40,000 SF demolition and fit-out of their Atlantic Avenue Brooklyn location. By supervising both a day and night shift, the project was completed within a very tight, State-mandated 6-week schedule, avoiding severe penalties in the process. Exuding professionalism and deep industry knowledge, Lisa, night-shift PM Albert Rosario, and account executive Ron Baglieri, exemplified the JLS motto of delivering “more than expected” for our clients. We join our client in congratulating our team for a job well done.
