Our last event of 2024 was "The Diagnostic Odyssey and Beyond: Overcoming Barriers in Rare Genetic Disease Treatment", co-hosted with Biolabs@NYULangone on November 14. Our moderator, Dr. Glennis Mehra, and our panelists, Elizabeth Brim, Nikul Shukla, and Xiao Peng, discussed the market, legal, and innovative landscape of rare genetic diseases. Xiao Peng joined Montefiore Health System faculty as Assistant Professor in the Division of Genetics, Department of Pediatrics and will be Co-Director of the New York Center for Rare Diseases. Her clinical and research interests synergistically converged on a passionate interest in genetically-driven disorders of blood and immunity. Xiao's lifelong dedication to education means that she has designed and led courses on genetics and immunology and continues to teach medical providers at every level of training at her own and other institutions! Peng will be one of the panelists of "The Diagnostic Odyssey & Beyond: Rare Genetic Diseases" on November 14th.
