For many years, Midleton Very Rare was housed in a wooden case that had become inseparable from the brand’s ritual, presence, and prestige.

In 2023, GPA Global was invited to reimagine this familiar structure in line with Pernod Ricard’s sustainability guidelines, creating a paper-based pack that preserved its elegance while eliminating wood, plastics, and a number of non-recyclable elements.

The result was 50% lighter, with significant reductions in fossil fuel use, water consumption, and emissions, earning a Silver at the Pentawards in the Sustainable Design, Luxury Goods category.

The evolution did not stop there.

To fully align with Pernod Ricard’s 2025 Sustainability & Responsibility guidelines, GPA Global developed the next generation of the pack: magnet-free, 100% paper-based, and fully recyclable, while still preserving the iconic double-door format and the familiar on-shelf presence of Midleton Very Rare.

In jewellery, packaging is closely tied to how a piece is valued.

It shapes how the product is stored, protected, and presented.

For brands, that means finding the right balance.

Packaging needs to feel refined in retail, considered in e-commerce, and suitable for gifting, while avoiding unnecessary materials, excess weight, and operational complexity.

Materials, fitments, closures and finishes all play a part. So do the quieter details, from anti-tarnish protection to colour consistency and quality control across a full range.

At GPA Global, we see jewellery packaging as a complete system rather than just a box.

That means bringing together protection, structure, material choices, sustainability, unboxing, and brand identity in a way that feels natural, considered, and commercially viable.

When it is done well, the packaging does not compete with the jewellery.

It gives the piece the space, care, and context it deserves.

Not every shopping bag needs to travel far.

Sometimes, producing them closer to where they’re needed is the smarter choice.

For shopping and carrier bags heading across the Americas, GPA Global’s North American production network provides a practical, closer-to-market option that supports better timing, shipping, and restocking.

Producing closer to the market doesn’t mean compromising on quality.

With the support of GPA Global’s Tech Transfer team, brands can expect consistent quality, specifications, and standards, regardless of where their bags are made.

You get the same bag, with the same standards, but with a shorter journey.

Good luck, the kind you zip up, hold onto, and take with you.

GPA Global developed the limited-edition emerald green half-moon pouch for OH MY CREAM’s collaboration with Mathilde Favier, celebrating the launch of Mathilde à Paris.

Each pouch comes with Mathilde’s lucky charm keychain, featuring a quartz stone, a clover, and a metal horseshoe.

Compact yet full of character, it doubles as a keepsake and a little talisman to carry with you wherever the day takes you.

Luxury is in the details you notice.

And the most stunning pieces are made to last.

For Valentino Beauty’s Les Cires, GPA Global collaborated on the refillable glass candle holder and folding-box packaging, creating a piece designed for the ritual of burning, replacing, and returning.

🕯️ A candle to light up your moments.
♻️ A holder you’ll want to keep forever.

An act of love, considered in every detail.

There was, so the story goes, a quarrel over pulque and cacao. Out of that dispute came a feathered pig deity, there to judge between them.

This tale inspired WhistlePig The Boss Hog XII: Feather & Flame.

The presentation case opens through a beautifully illustrated twelve-panel sequence that draws from Mesoamerican codices. It uses Matador Black Soft Touch paper, features embossed details, and includes a handcrafted pewter stopper, all of which give it a unique character.

But it wasn’t just about looks!

The structure of the packaging mattered just as much.

The rigid box interior was re-engineered with a custom bottle-locking system and engineered tags to help secure the heavy bottle, while a purpose-built outer shipper was developed for e-commerce transit.

In the end, even a pack built around myth still comes down to how it feels in the hand and how it travels.

Transparent packaging is becoming very popular, especially for products where appearance plays a crucial role in consumer confidence at the point of purchase.

People prefer to see what they are buying, and that’s understandable.

However, increased visibility also introduces technical questions that teams must address honestly, including shelf-life risk, light exposure, scuffing, barrier performance, and fulfillment handling.

At GPA, we assist teams in validating packaging formats, documenting tradeoffs, and selecting options that perform well in real-world conditions.

If you’re evaluating transparent packaging and want to talk through the tradeoffs, feel free to get in touch.

At GPA Global, we believe that chocolate packaging is one of the clearest examples of where technical excellence and creative brand expression need to work together.

Chocolate, sensitive to humidity, oxygen, odour and handling, requires exceptional barrier performance, seal integrity, and structure to maintain its quality.

At the same time, packaging also shapes perceived value through design, finish, and overall presentation, especially in a category where gifting and self-purchase often sit side by side.

This is what makes the chocolate category so interesting to work in.

It’s not just about the technical side.

The human experience is equally important.

People buy chocolate with their eyes, give it as a gift, share it with friends, and often keep it for personal enjoyment.

The experience starts right from the moment they touch the packaging.

With Easter just around the corner, it’s a good time to appreciate the packs that hit the sweet spot between technical performance and visual appeal.

On the International Day of Zero Waste, it’s worth remembering that “zero waste” isn’t one big breakthrough — it’s the result of many small, deliberate choices.

At GPA Global, that starts with how we design and produce packaging.

Across our operations, we:

Sort non-hazardous industrial waste into recycling streams, achieving a 98.6% recovery rate
Ensure hazardous waste is handled safely by certified partners in full compliance with regulations

But waste reduction goes beyond operations — it’s also about what we do with materials.
Since 2020, our “Upcycling Waste into Donations” initiative has turned production waste into something meaningful.

In 2025 alone, we repurposed 5.05 tons of waste into 4,300 seating cushions, donated to orphanages and schools in underprivileged communities across China through local NGO partnerships.

We also work closely with our clients to optimize packaging size and weight, helping reduce material use across the value chain.

Zero waste is an ongoing journey.

Our focus is simple: keep materials in use for longer, reduce waste at every stage, and contribute to a more circular future.

Find out more in our 2024 Sustainability report (the 2025 report will be coming soon).

Our customers are seeking products that are safe, sustainable, and responsibly sourced, and we need to meet that expectation by strengthening traceability and implementing rigorous due diligence.

Seeing our logo now featured on Transparency-One’s website reflects the steady work behind our TRASCE membership over the past three years, focused on improving visibility beyond tier 1 suppliers.

This approach drives end-to-end transparency, reinforces raw material traceability, and ensures alignment with regulatory standards and our responsible sourcing commitments.

This is another critical component strengthening the comprehensive traceability ecosystem we have built.
