Schimenti Construction partnered with Dick’s Sporting Goods to build its next-generation retail concept, House of Sport, at Newport Centre in Jersey City. Now open, the 85,000 SF project presents an immersive, experience-driven approach to sporting goods retail with interactive zones and community-focused amenities.

The House of Sport model combines retail with recreation through features such as a multi-sport cage, golf simulators, and a full-height climbing wall capped by a clerestory that offers sweeping views of the city skyline. Completed on schedule after 38 weeks of construction, the result is a multi-sport destination designed to energize the community and support athletes, adventurers, and everyday customers alike.

Schimenti recently completed three Target store remodels across Connecticut in Waterbury, Windsor, and Lisbon, all delivered on a fast-tracked 14-week schedule.

Each project varied in size and scope but shared a common goal: enhancing the in-store experience and supporting Target’s evolving service model. From fixture resets and finish upgrades to MEP modifications and phased construction, Schimenti worked closely with the Target team to keep operations running smoothly while bringing these refreshed spaces to life.

We’re proud to continue our partnership with Target as the brand reinvests in its stores and raises the bar for convenience and customer experience.

Schimenti Construction partnered with Fitness International to deliver the first Club Studio location in the Northeast. Located in South Windsor, Connecticut, the 44,021 SF facility marks a regional milestone for the brand and introduces its elevated fitness model to a new market. The project features state-of-the-art boutique fitness studios for Box, Reformer, CS4, Ride, Stretch, and Sweat+ classes and a medical spa, recovery unit, and juice bar.

The build included full interior renovations, a mezzanine-level cardio space, and upgrades to the pool, whirlpool, sauna, and basketball court. All wet areas underwent complete removal and rebuild, and repairs were made in designated existing areas. Existing overflow drains were reworked to accommodate updated plans, and the basketball court—initially marked for demolition—was fully renovated.

Schimenti collaborated closely with the architect and client to coordinate evolving design plans and manage site decisions. The result is a fully modernized, high-performance fitness facility that reflects the Club Studio brand.

Last week, Schimenti hosted our Annual Superintendent Training, bringing together team members from across the company to reaffirm our commitment to safety and best-in-class operations.

Over two days, our team engaged in safety-focused training, including Narcan and CPR instruction. They also reviewed QA/QC protocols and explored methods to support our operational standards.

With safety as our number one priority, this time together reinforces the strong culture, teamwork, and consistency that define our approach and drive success across every project.

Yesterday, Schimenti had the pleasure of hosting the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) Hartford Chapter for a Coffee & Conversation event at one of our active job sites nearing completion in Norwalk, CT.

After a light breakfast, guests headed into the field for a safety overview led by Superintendent Thomas Nolan, followed by an engaging job site tour led by Kirsten Golankiewicz and Tom Schimenti. The tour offered valuable insight into the planning, coordination, and ex*****on involved in delivering a ground-up build of this scale.

The French luxury shopping destination PRINTEMPS opened at 1 Wall Street on Friday morning.

Schimenti successfully delivered PRINTEMPS’ first U.S. flagship, reinventing the traditional department store to focus on the individual luxury lifestyle experience with the integration of health and wellness and food and beverage experiences, led by acclaimed chef Gregory Gourdet.

Fashion royalty Anna Wintour hosted the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Design elements such as brick tile flooring, plaster-finished walls and ceilings, and custom display shelving create a refined yet inviting atmosphere.

This 4,000 SF space presents a captivating blend of Japanese-inspired design and craftsmanship, offering a dynamic retail environment that pays homage to the brand’s heritage. Signature elements include walnut wood shelving, traditional Noren dividers adorned with BAPE’s iconic camouflage pattern, and lush greenery that evokes a tranquil, temple-like ambiance.

Key design features, like the sneaker display area, highlight the store’s commitment to tradition and modernity. A sleek wooden slat wall, camouflage-patterned washi paper lightboxes, and transparent glass elements create an open, sophisticated space that enhances the shopping experience. Schimenti Construction partnered with Primark to build a new retail location at Queens Center, the largest mall in Queens, as part of the brand’s expansion in New York. The 52,000 SF space includes over 37,000 SF dedicated to retail, transforming three separate, non-adjacent spaces into a unified, multi-level shopping destination designed to reflect Primark’s bold and modern brand identity while enhancing customer flow and functionality.

The build features carefully executed design elements, including a BiLusion feature wall, custom interior signage, and a wood-slatted cash wrap, all designed to create a welcoming and visually distinct shopping environment. The space was successfully brought together through thoughtful planning and coordination to meet Primark’s vision. Since its opening, the store has become one of the most popular retail destinations at Queens Center.
