We were selected as a BIO-Europe Spring Startup Spotlight company. That alone was a milestone.

Then yesterday, we won 1st place! 🏆

We’re building the next generation of AAV gene therapy for the kidney. Proprietary capsids screened directly from human kidney tissue. A platform designed kidney-first, from the ground up. Pipeline starting with Alport syndrome, a devastating genetic kidney disease with no approved gene therapy today.

The kidney has been left behind by therapeutic innovation for too long. Nionyx is here to change that, and today’s recognition means the field is paying attention.

There are over 150 rare kidney diseases, many genetic, many diagnosed in childhood. Individually rare, collectively impacting millions.

And yet, for conditions like Alport syndrome, there are still no approved gene therapy options.

Today, Nionyx Bio comes out of stealth with $4M in seed financing, led by 2048 Ventures with participation from Empire State Development (NY Ventures), White Mug Healthcare, AIN Ventures, and Pathway Bioventures.

This funding will accelerate development of our proprietary AAV Kidney Atlas and advance our pipeline of one-time, precision therapies for renal diseases.

Our platform spans capsid, cassette, and delivery — all purpose-built for precision and safety.
