When an osprey pair built a nest on an energized electrical pole on Petty’s Island, our crews knew they had to move quickly — for the safety of the birds and to help protect electric reliability for our customers. 🪺
Working together with the NJ Natural Lands Trust, USDA Wildlife Services, CITGO Fueling Good and the Conserve Wildlife Foundation of NJ, our crews carefully relocated the nest — and its three eggs — to a newly built nesting platform nearby.
New Jersey’s osprey population has grown from fewer than 50 nesting pairs in the 1970s to more than 800 today thanks to decades of conservation work and partnerships like these.
We’re grateful to play a small role in helping wildlife and safe, reliable energy service coexist.
