jCyte is excited to share that Nature Magazine's Biopharma Dealmakers has published a new article spotlighting the promise of jCell (famzeretcel), our neuroprotective, allogeneic, and gene-agnostic retinal progenitor cell therapy for retinitis pigmentosa (RP) and other back of the eye indications.

The piece highlights why jCell is uniquely positioned to serve the ~1.5 million people living with RP, most of whom have no treatment options. jCell is delivered via a simple intravitreal injection and works by releasing neurotrophic factors that support photoreceptor health and function.

Clinical findings have shown meaningful vision improvements that can appear within weeks and last a year or more from a single dose, an encouraging signal as we advance our ongoing Phase 2 trial, JC02-88. You can learn more about the trial below

We remain committed to moving this therapy forward with urgency, rigor, and an unwavering focus on patients.

We’re excited to share some big news from jCyte!

The first patients have now been treated in our new JC02-88 clinical trial. This study is testing a higher dose of our investigational therapy, jCell (famzeretcel), for people living with retinitis pigmentosa (RP)—a rare, inherited eye disease that leads to vision loss and blindness.

This milestone brings us one step closer to our mission: developing a treatment that has the potential to restore vision for patients with RP, no matter their genetic subtype.

We’re deeply grateful to the patients, families, researchers, and partners who make this journey possible. Together, we’re moving closer to a future with more hope for the RP community.

After three of their four children are diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa (RP), a family embarks on an extraordinary journey around the world to create lasting visual memories for their children before they lose their sight.

At jCyte, we are dedicated to addressing the unmet needs of people with RP and other degenerative eye diseases. Blink highlights the urgent need for innovation in the treatment of RP, a condition for which there is currently no cure. We are working relentlessly to develop an allogeneic cell therapy that may restore vision and provide hope to those living with this life-changing disease.
