Today, the results of the GlueX search for ϕ(2170) in photoproduction were reported in Physical Review Letters. While GlueX does not observe the ϕ(2170) at the expected mass, the ϕπ⁺π⁻ spectrum instead shows additional structures, including an enhancement near 2.24 GeV/c² and another near 1.82 GeV/c², which may reflect nearby thresholds or resonances distinct from the ϕ(2170). These results provide new constraints on hidden‑strangeness vector mesons and extend the study of both conventional and potentially exotic hadronic states into the photoproduction domain.
