Progress continues at River Port. Here’s a look at the second and third concrete pours for the Pier 15 end strengthening project.

During this phase, concrete was poured using a pump truck and then evenly spread with specialized tools to ensure a smooth surface. Control joints were cut into the slab to prevent cracking, and a final grooming step was completed to add slip-resistant texture.

With these final pours complete, the concrete strengthening portion of the Pier 15 upgrades is now finished. Future improvements to the pier will include utility extensions, upgraded lighting, and additional security cameras.

Picking up where we left off, here’s a look at the first of three concrete pours now underway on Pier 15.

The new concrete deck is being poured integral to the structural steel rebar already in place, working together to evenly distribute the load across the existing pier and newly placed piles.

Once complete, this project will increase Pier 15’s load capacity to nearly that of Pier 14, creating a larger working area and greater lifting capacity for our crane operations so we can better serve our customers.

Progress at River Port is moving forward, and we’re pleased to share the latest improvements throughout the facility.

Construction on Pier 15 is progressing smoothly. Reinforcing steel for the new concrete overlay has been installed, increasing the pier’s load-bearing capacity and ensuring it meets the structural requirements to support our cranes during vessel operations.

The next step is to pour the concrete, bringing the project closer to completion.

Progress continues at River Port, and we’re excited to share a closer look at the ongoing improvements across the facility.

Work on Pier 15 is well underway, with 104 new concrete piles being installed, each 110 feet long and able to support at least 100 tons. Once in place, new steel reinforcement and high-strength marine concrete will complete the deck, boosting the pier’s load-bearing capacity. This upgrade will better support our cranes, forklifts, and heavy equipment for vessel service. The project remains on track for August completion.

A new service road is now complete on the yard’s east side, improving laydown area access and streamlining emergency vehicle routes. We continue to collaborate with local fire departments to uphold the highest safety standards.

At the 14th Street site, a new parking lot with over 500 spaces is nearing completion along with upgraded lighting. A dry swale stormwater drainage system has been completed around the perimeter of the property, using a layered filtration process to treat runoff before it reaches the river. This environmentally responsible solution protects local waterways better than traditional retention ponds.
