Public Service Announcement.....
This is to inform the public of recent occurrences that have been brought to our attention by several of our clients & builders.
NOT ALL DUMP TRUCKS ARE EQUAL.....
Below are some examples,
**Single Axle (many different sizes)
**Tandem Axle
**Triple Axle
**Semi-truck with Single, Tandem & Triple axle trailers.
Each of these types of haulers above can carry a limited amount of weight due to Florida Department of Transportation restrictions.
When pricing the materials & delivery for your projects, please make sure you know the size truck that will be making the delivery as that is how you will be able to compare the cost per load accurately.
Example :
Fill sand weight is approximately 1.2+ ton per cubic yard dry.
If a Tandem axle truck that can carry 16ton(13.5 cuyds) legally cost you $250 & a Tri-axle truck that can carry 22 ton(18.5cuyd) for $300.
That equals 5 yards less per load on the Tandem than the Triaxle
It will take 4 loads of a Tandem truck to equal 3 loads of the Triaxle. Which will result in $100 more money for the same amount of dirt. Not to mention the time it takes for the 4th load to arrive while your labor crew is waiting.
Now let's say the property needs 40+ loads (which is not un-common).
You are paying the labor crew to wait for 10 extra loads to receive the same amount of dirt & your paying more in the end for the dirt. You can protect yourself by asking for load tickets for each load delivered. The ticket will have the information for each load including dates, time, truck info & amounts. We receive a load ticket from each supplier and quarry.
Hopefully this will shine some light on those who try to shortcut our industry.
If you have any questions or concerns please don't hesitate to comment or reach out to us directly. Our website has a materials calculator to help, however it doesn't take into consideration for compaction of different materials. We also have tools in place to determine the correct amount of materials is delivered to everyone. Whether it be scales for weight on our large trucks or measured bucket size on the smaller trucks we will always provide the correct amount for your orders. All we ask is that you compare our price to the equal amount of materials being delivered. There will be more detailed information in the comments if you are interested. Educate yourself before being sold for less......
Thank you for your attention.
