This summer, UT Martin civil engineering student Tanner Thomas got a firsthand look at what it means to put engineering into action during his internship here at Marine Solutions.

Tanner gained experience that went far beyond the classroom and helped solidify his goal of becoming a civil engineer. We’re proud to have played a part in his journey and excited to see where his engineering career takes him next!

Bridge inspections give our team an up-close look at the condition of critical infrastructure.

Our team was recently in Maryland performing a bridge inspection, documenting conditions and identifying structural deficiencies. The information collected in the field helps owners better understand their structures and plan for maintenance and repairs.

Giving back while preserving a piece of Chesapeake Bay history. Members of our team recently volunteered at Thomas Point Shoal Lighthouse, spending the day painting and helping with preservation efforts at this historic landmark.

A great day on the water, and an even better opportunity to leave the lighthouse a little better than we found it.

Out in the field, our interns get the opportunity to learn directly from experienced team members, seeing firsthand what it takes to complete complex inspections in challenging environments.

Some railroad bridges are tucked miles away in remote areas with limited access, often spanning shallow waterways where traditional access isn’t an option. For this project, the crew traveled by high-rail vehicle to reach the bridge and perform a wading inspection.
