Another Memorial Day has arrived. However, I find that this day, during a time of war, hits differently than usual. As important and necessary it is to keep nuclear weapons out of the hands of terrorists, the risk that this year’s remembrance might include people we honor next year makes the day a bit more serious.
The thing is - the men and women of our armed forces know the risks. They knew them when they signed up, no matter the war or skirmish they were headed into. They know that their missions could result in their passing. And yet, they’re not keeping themselves at the forefront of their thoughts. They’re thinking of us and our protection.
So today, we honor the selfless thousands that have died to save our lives and our way of life. Defending freedom is never free. We thank each and every military member for defending us and we pray for every lost soul and their families. May we all be grateful for their efforts and sacrifices. 🇺🇸🪦🙏🏼
