Cranking your thermostat down to 60 won't make a struggling AC cool any faster.

If the air is running but the temperature isn't dropping, you are likely dealing with a frozen coil or a refrigerant leak.

Turn the system off to prevent the compressor from burning out while you wait for a technician.

Is your toilet running nonstop?

A running toilet can waste a lot of water and may be a sign that something inside the tank needs attention.

In this video, Justin shows you what to do first: how to turn the toilet off and how to check the fill valve.

If your toilet won’t stop running, start by finding the shutoff valve behind or near the base of the toilet. Turn it clockwise to stop the water flow. Then, carefully remove the tank lid and check the fill valve to see if it’s stuck, leaking, or not shutting off properly.

Sometimes it’s a simple adjustment. Other times, a worn-out part may need to be replaced.

If you’re not sure what you’re looking at, or the toilet keeps running after you’ve checked it, give us a call. We’ll help get it fixed before it wastes more water or turns into a bigger plumbing issue.

Toilet overflowing? Don’t panic — act fast.

In this video, Justin shows you what to do when your toilet starts to overflow and how to help limit the mess before it turns into a bigger plumbing problem.

First, turn off the water supply valve behind or near the base of the toilet by turning it clockwise. Then, avoid flushing again, clear the area around the toilet, and start soaking up any standing water to help protect your flooring.

An overflowing toilet can happen because of a clog, a blocked drain line, or another issue in your plumbing system. If the toilet keeps backing up, drains slowly, or overflows more than once, it’s time to call a professional.

Does your water smell… off?

Bad-smelling water is more than just unpleasant. It can sometimes be a sign that your plumbing system is trying to tell you something.

A rotten egg smell, musty odor, sewage-like scent, or metallic smell can point to issues like bacteria buildup, drain problems, water heater concerns, or aging pipes. While some causes are simple, others may need a professional inspection to prevent bigger plumbing problems down the road.

In this video, Justin shares a few signs your plumbing system may be trying to warn you that something isn’t right.

If your water smells strange or your plumbing just doesn’t seem normal, don’t ignore it. A quick check today could help prevent a bigger repair later.

Wondering if your attic has enough insulation?

One simple sign to look for is your roof rafters. If you can easily see the rafters above your insulation, your attic may not have enough coverage to properly protect your home.

Attic insulation plays a big role in keeping your home comfortable year-round. It helps reduce heat loss in the winter, keeps hot attic air from making your AC work harder in the summer, and can improve overall energy efficiency.

A few signs you may need more attic insulation include:

🏠 Visible rafters above the insulation
🏠 Rooms that feel too hot or too cold
🏠 Higher energy bills
🏠 Drafty areas in the home
🏠 An HVAC system that seems to run constantly

If your attic insulation looks low, uneven, or worn down, it may be time for a professional evaluation.

GFCI outlets are designed to help protect you from electrical shock, especially in areas like kitchens, bathrooms, garages, laundry rooms, and outdoor spaces.

If your outlet stops working, here are a few quick things to check:

⚡ Press the “Reset” button on the GFCI outlet
⚡ Check nearby GFCI outlets, since one outlet may control others
⚡ Make sure the breaker has not tripped
⚡ Unplug anything connected before resetting
⚡ Look for signs of damage, moisture, burning smells, or repeated tripping

If the outlet will not reset, keeps tripping, feels warm, or you notice anything unusual, it is time to call a licensed electrician.

Stay tuned for more simple electrical tips to help keep your home safe.
