Thank you to Scott and BJ!

🛩️ Today, the Oklahoma Department of Aerospace and Aeronautics recognizes the unsung heroes who make Oklahoma the MRO Capital of the World—our incredible aviation maintenance technicians! 🛠️

Celebrated annually on May 24th, National Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT) Day honors the birthday of Charles E. Taylor. As the first aviation mechanic, Taylor built the engine that powered the Wright brothers into history.

Oklahoma commands the global stage in aircraft Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO). That elite reputation relies entirely on the precision, skill, and dedication of our local mechanics.

From Tinker to Tulsa, Altus to Enid, and Oklahoma City to Ardmore—Oklahoma keeps America flying. Thank you for keeping our skies safe! ✈️

We admire what Mike Busch and Savvy Aviation are doing. We are working to obtain a level of efficiency that would make Savvy proud.

Not there yet, but we're working on it.

You've probably felt it: the booked-out shop schedules, the longer wait times, the annuals you have to plan a year in advance.

It's a fundamental structural imbalance between the supply of qualified A&P mechanics and the demand for their time, and it will worsen year after year unless the industry acts.

The solution has to come from both directions:
1. Increasing the supply of mechanics entering personal aviation, and
2. Dramatically improving how efficiently we use the ones we already have.

That second piece matters more than most people realize. A huge percentage of the shop time right now is spent on maintenance that isn't necessary: trial-and-error that could be avoided with a data-driven diagnosis, work driven by arbitrary TBOs, manufacturer-specified intervals that aren't required by regulation, and a culture of doing more rather than less.

Every unnecessary oil change, every unneeded cylinder pull, every premature overhaul is consuming mechanic hours that someone else's airplane genuinely needs. Saying no to unnecessary maintenance isn't just good for your wallet and plane; it's good for GA.

Ferried to OUN from OSX. We retrieved a customer aircraft that was dead in the water. Poor maintenance by a local mechanic left it stranded and so we went, inspected, repaired, replaced, and ferried it to our shop to complete the repairs and an annual to return it to service.

Aircraft recovery!

This Cessna 150 was stuck away from home all the way in Mississippi. The owner had some bad luck with a local mechanic who failed to maintain a safe and airworthy standard of work. He returned the aircraft to the owner with 3 obvious squawks, including a rapid oil leak, unsafetied fasteners, and fasteners with unacceptable amount of thread engagement.

We also found additional oil leaks, a damaged engine mount, an engine case accessory pad with a stripped stud, and other issues needing repair.

Installed a helicoil, dressed and prepped sealing surfaces, sealed threads, safetied fasteners, replaced hardware, and ground tested.

We're going back to the aircraft soon to complete a pre-ferry inspection and ferry it here to OUN for more extensive repairs, an annual inspection, and ultimately to deliver it back to the owner.

One of the many aviation services we offer.
