Pressure-treated stair stringers will fail over time as water seeps into them where the deck boards are fastened. You can see here how the damage has compromised the structural integrity of the stairs.

We’re rebuilding this deck and using .lumber stair stringers because their ultra-durable, composite material is far stronger and lasts longer than pressure-treated wood ever could.
