Recycled plastic has a quality problem.

Residual monomers, plasticizers and other contaminants often keep recycled polymers out of high-value uses. Buyers want virgin-like purity, and conventional processes struggle to deliver it.

Supercritical CO₂ is a practical fix:

Works in a closed loop, so the CO₂ is recaptured and reused

Mechanical recycling has a ceiling, and most of the world’s plastic waste is already past it.

Multilayer packaging, composite shoes, technical textiles and fiber-reinforced parts are all built from materials that were never meant to come apart. Shredding them gives you a mixed, degraded product that’s hard to sell.

Supercritical fluids offer another way to handle them. Adjusting pressure and temperature lets you dissolve one polymer or adhesive while leaving the others intact. The result is a cleaner separation at milder temperatures, and the polymers come out closer to virgin quality.
