Beautiful day in Portland ME for a site visit. Great progress by our team on this delicate National Historic Landmark. We’re replicating all of the historic Portland Brownstone elements with new stones that are being fabricated from Portland Brownstone blocks that have been in storage for 25 years! It’s a tremendous honor for me to be back here after working on the tower rehabilitation project 20 years ago, still looks great!

All in all, it's not just another brick in the wall.

Fort Jefferson, built with over 16 million bricks, is the most ambitious coastal fortification ever undertaken by the United States. Initially, bricks were shipped in from Pensacola, Florida. However, after Florida seceded from the Union in 1861, supplies came from as far away as Maine. These new bricks were often of lower quality and not suited to withstand Florida’s intense heat and humidity—many were rejected and sent back.

Today, the varying colors of the bricks serve as a visual reminder of the intricate human history of Fort Jefferson.

Making steady progress at the historic St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral. Half of the front steps have been removed and assessed, revealing that the underlying stem walls are in solid condition. Column paint removal mockups have been completed, and restoration work on the wood columns and doors is set to begin shortly. In addition, four bays between the pier walls have been repointed and assessed, while two more are currently opened up and prepped for pointing and infill. We’re proud to contribute to the preservation of this important landmark and look forward to sharing more updates as the work continues!

Restoration work is progressing at St.George Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Philadelphia. Scaffolding has been erected around the columns, allowing for paint removal, epoxy repairs, Dutchman repairs, and repainting to restore the original integrity. The front stairs have started to be removed to assess the condition of the pier walls beneath them, and initial finding show they are in better condition than expected! Additionally, the cathedral’s historic front doors will receive expert restoration to maintain their character and longevity. stay tuned for more updates!
