A new landmark has taken its place on Southwest Boulevard.

We’re proud to have helped bring the Las Tarascas statue to completion as part of the ongoing investments in the Westside neighborhood. Celebrating Kansas City’s sister-city relationship with Morelia, Mexico, the monument serves as a symbol of cultural connection, shared heritage, and the vibrant arts community that continues to shape and enrich our city.

Projects like this help create meaningful public spaces that honor history, celebrate culture, and strengthen the communities they serve.

Progress continues at our Yvonne Starks Wilson Park project. Improvements to the park include repaving and expanding parking, a new basketball court, an inclusive playground, a picnic pavilion, and a restroom facility. It will also feature a multi-purpose recreational field.

This project isn't just honoring the legacy of the late senator, it will provide a space that connects the neighborhood for generations.
