Our Haas VM-6 is built for precision mold and die work.

With its large work capacity, high spindle speed, and high-accuracy machining capability, the VM-6 allows us to handle detailed mold surfaces, complex 3D machining, tight-tolerance features, and larger tooling with a nice surface finish out of the machine.

Job Description
Arkansas Tool & Die is seeking an experienced Tool Maker to join our precision manufacturing team. We are a climate-controlled job shop specializing in one-off parts, custom tooling, dies, and tight-tolerance components. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in toolmaking, machining, and precision measurement, with the ability to build, repair, and maintain tooling to exact specifications.

Responsibilities
• Build, repair, and maintain tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures
• Operate manual mills, lathes, grinders, and EDM equipment
• Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and CAD files
• Perform precision fitting, polishing, heat-treat prep, and assembly
• Hold tight tolerances using precision measurement instruments
• Troubleshoot tooling issues and provide solutions to improve performance
• Work closely with engineers and machinists to complete tooling projects
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-focused work environment

Qualifications
• 5–10 years of toolmaking or die-making experience preferred
• Strong understanding of machining principles and manufacturing processes
• Ability to set up and run manual machines; CNC experience a plus
• Proficiency with precision measurement tools (micrometers, indicators, gauge blocks, etc.)
• Ability to read and interpret complex prints and 3D models
• Experience with surface grinding and EDM is highly desirable
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
