This homeowner was dealing with a compromised sewer lateral that had completely failed, causing sewage to back up into the home and leaving them without working plumbing.
After a sewer camera inspection confirmed the issue, we worked directly with the insurance company and developed a plan to get everything back up and running as quickly as possible.
This project came with its share of challenges, including a 140-foot sewer run and limited access that required tree removal before excavation could begin. Despite the obstacles, our team completed the replacement and restored reliable sewer service to the property.
If you’re experiencing frequent backups, slow drains, or suspect a sewer line problem, don’t wait for it to become an emergency. Early diagnosis can save time, money, and damage to your home.

🌧️ Rain Is In The Forecast – Is Your Sump Pump Ready?
With several days of rain in the forecast, now is a great time to make sure your sump pump system is ready to do its job.
This morning we helped a homeowner whose sump pump discharge line had been buried beneath a paver patio. Over time, the line became restricted and wasn't allowing water to discharge properly. We rerouted the discharge through a crawl space and out beyond the addition, giving the system a clear path to move water away from the home.
Many homeowners don't think about their sump pump until it's too late. A failed pump, clogged discharge line, frozen pipe, or bad check valve can quickly lead to a flooded basement and costly damage.
A few things to check before the next storm:
✔️ Test your sump pump by pouring water into the pit
✔️ Verify the discharge line is clear and draining properly
✔️ Listen for unusual noises or excessive cycling
✔️ Check that the check valve is functioning correctly
✔️ Consider replacing pumps that are approaching the end of their service life
If your sump pump hasn't been inspected in a few years, preventative maintenance is often far less expensive than dealing with a flooded basement.
Need a sump pump inspection, repair, or replacement before the next storm rolls through? Give us a call. We're happy to help keep your basement dry.

Recently we completed a new gas line installation from the meter to a customer’s new pool heater, getting them one step closer to enjoying a longer swimming season.
During our work, we identified a gas leak at the meter and immediately notified both the homeowner and PECO. PECO responded quickly and dispatched a crew while we were still on site. Their team replaced the leaking meter and upgraded it to accommodate the additional BTU demand of the new pool heater.
This was a great example of how proactive communication and coordination can benefit the customer. We were able to complete our installation, PECO resolved a potentially hazardous gas leak, and the homeowner received a meter upgrade necessary for their new equipment—all in a single visit.
At Barci Plumbing & Mechanical, we don’t just install systems—we look for potential issues and help ensure everything is operating safely and efficiently.

Today we helped a customer by replacing their existing main shutoff valve, installing a new secondary shutoff valve after the meter for added convenience, and rebuilding the meter set to ensure everything was operating properly and up to current standards.
Having reliable isolation valves makes future plumbing repairs, fixture replacements, and emergency shut downs much easier while protecting the home from unnecessary water damage. Clean, accessible, and dependable water service is always the goal.

A failed sump pump can turn into a flooded basement fast. This customer in Blue Bell, Pa caught it early and luckily the water was contained mostly to the mechanical room, keeping damage to the rest of the property to a minimum.
We removed the failed pump and installed a new Little Giant sump pump to get the system back up and running reliably.

If your sump pump has been running constantly, making unusual noises, or hasn’t been tested recently, now is a good time to have it checked before the next heavy rain.

One of my favorite parts of this trade is getting to work in old buildings with real history behind them.
This project was at a converted carriage house and stables in Chestnut Hill that had been turned into living space. Our work involved repairing and modifying the existing galvanized water lines, coring through the original brick exterior, and installing a new frost-free hose bib.
Older homes and buildings always come with unique challenges, but that’s what makes projects like this rewarding.

It’s not always beautiful bathrooms and dream installs. Sometimes, it’s just getting the toilet to flush again.

This customer in Richboro, Pa had a section of drainage located beneath the slab that was backing up due to wet wipes in the line. We removed the toilet, cabled the drain, and got everything flowing properly again…no more backups in the shower or kitchenette sink.

For added peace of mind, we also performed a camera inspection, roughly 80’ out into the yard and found no signs of damage or major concern.

After the mess was cleared, we cleaned up the area, reset the toilet with a new wax ring, and left it like we were never there.

Here’s one from a cast iron stack repair we did in Hatfield, Pa.
The cast iron was cracked and leaking into the space down below. Not to mention the “creativity” of the previous installers reducing the line down from 4”-3” cast. Needless to say, we fixed it the right way with new PVC and no-hubs. Now this homeowner can enjoy their leak free bathroom.
