Locked? ✅ Frozen? 🔴⚠️

Here’s a 5-second stirrup check every OR team should know:

When locked your stirrup boots should still freely float-rocking back and forth.

No float? The leg and foot angle can’t naturally adjust as you position the patient. The result? Pressure has nowhere to go but up the leg... straight to the hip.

Call us for a free full stirrup assessment-let’s make sure your equipment still passes the float test.

Adjustability isn’t a feature - it’s what makes precise, safe patient positioning possible.

In lithotomy positioning, proper alignment is essential for both patient support and surgical access. A stirrup that accommodates a broad range of patient heights helps clinicians position patients consistently, without compromising stability or comfort.

That range matters most at the extremes. If a boot can’t travel far enough down the rod for a shorter patient, it forces compensation elsewhere - an incorrect leg angle when raising into high lithotomy or lowering into low lithotomy, sometimes placing unintended pressure on the hip.

The KYRA® Classic Stirrup range is uniquely designed to support safe positioning across a wider spectrum of patient heights, giving OR teams the versatility they need across a wide variety of procedures and populations.

How does your team ensure consistent lithotomy positioning across diverse patient populations?

Easy-squeezy positioning with the new KYRA Classic squeeze handle 👐

The new KYRA®️ Classic™️ handle was built to work for every hand size - not just the ones with the strongest grip.

The old way? Stiff handle, tension that had to be maintained whilst positioning the patient, plus a wider span that was tough on smaller hands.

The KYRA way? Compress once and it holds - doing the work for you while you move your patient safely into position. Reduced squeeze angle, reduced grip force, less hand fatigue on every case.

Designed for the comfort of patients AND clinicians.

The belly should hang free — not get compressed. 🎯

In the Wilson position, lateral width adjustability lets the abdomen hang naturally between supports instead of pressing against a fixed frame.

Why it matters: abdominal compression → rising pressure → blood pooling in the surgical field → BP instability.

The Curve™ Spine Frame's width control keeps the abdomen unrestricted, so teams get a clearer field and more stable patients — without losing spinal alignment.

✔ Free abdominal clearance
✔ Less blood pooling
✔ Stable BP + venous return
✔ Fits real patient anatomy
✔ Stable midline alignment

Adjustable width. Safer positioning. Built for the OR.

Ten years ago, in a Starbucks in Westford, Massachusetts, Howard Miller and Jesse Drake sketched out an idea with a simple ambition: Build Something Better™.

No factory. No catalog. No customers. Just a dream and a conviction that patient positioning in the OR could be safer, smarter and more considered than what was available at the time.

Better products. Better outcomes. A better place to work. A better partner to deal with. A culture worth building alongside the catalog.

A decade on, KYRA stirrups, spine frames and positioning systems are in operating rooms around the world-and our design DNA runs deeper still, woven through the industry in proprietary technologies we’ve engineered for some of the world’s leading medical device manufacturers.

None of that happened in isolation. Thank you to the surgeons, nurses and perioperative teams who told us what they actually needed and held us to it. To the reps and distributors who carry our name into hospitals every day. To the OEM partners who trust us with theirs. And to the KYRA team who wholeheartedly share that dream and turn that original ambition into better outcomes, order by order.

Two cups of coffee. One notepad. Ten years. Over thirty patents.

Still building something better.

SWIPE 👉 Then vs. Now: The evolution of urology drainage in the OR.

Then: Open buckets and kick basins placed on the OR floor were commonly used to catch fluids during urology procedures. These setups often required frequent repositioning, created workflow interruptions, and introduced challenges in maintaining a clean, controlled field.

Now: The KYRA® Clean Catcher™ and Uro Drain Bags support a more organized, efficient, and hygienic environment. These systems secure directly to the OR table, help maintain correct patient positioning, and keep fluids contained, reducing floor contamination and improving staff safety.

From floor‑based collection to engineered, table‑mounted solutions — urology drainage has advanced to support cleaner, more consistent OR practice.
