Job Description
The work of the Service Center Supervisor is directed by our customer in the form of published Standard Operating Procedures. It is essential that the processes outlined by our customer are followed. Supervisors are required to meet agreed upon production allocations and inventory control. Therefore, there could be changes to the essential job functions which would be directed by the management of BDL.
The Supervisor position must conduct quality inspections throughout their shift. This is a manual handling, labor intensive job. A considerable amount of strength and endurance is required of the individual to safely and successfully perform in this position. The strength and endurance demand is caused by the weight of the pallets handled and the moderate rate of frequency at which they are handled. Specifically, the amount of endurance required to perform in this position is equivalent to walking at a moderate pace for the entire shift. The strength requirements are based on the range of heights at which pallets are handled, and the weight of those pallets. Pallets are handled from a height of 5 inches to a maximum height of 90 inches. The majority of the heavier pallets, above 30 pounds are located in the handling range of 5 to 46 inches. The heaviest pallets weigh 70 pounds each and require the highest frequency of handling. However, the Supervisor is instructed to not lift the pallet by themselves for quality inspection. The quality assurance job function shall be done with two people.
In addition to handling pallets, the Supervisor must be able to operate a forklift which carries the pallets throughout the plant. The Supervisor must understand the layout of the facility and the inventory/storage requirement required by the customer.
