Our September spotlight is Jake H. Jake has been with O’Fallon Casting for 5 years in the Rough Inspection department. He was hired on to the position of Grind which he worked on 2nd shift for a year. Quickly mastering this specialty, Jake started staying after his shift with supervisor Jimmy to learn and train in blend weld and deburr. He then was moved to the Blend position of the Rough Inspection department on 1st Shift. Jake has done so well that he now trains the new employees that come to the Blend department.

“Blending can be difficult and it has taught me patience. When I can fix a part by blending, it gives me a sense of pride.”

His supervisor Jimmy, and floor supervisor Kevin have both expressed appreciation for Jake and his abilities.

“Jake is a great employee and has become one of the best blend welders we have. He is always willing to work on anything that is asked and this recognition is well deserved.” Jimmy H. and Kevin H.

Jake also shares the same sentiment for his managers as well. He states that they provide him with a great work/life balance that not only allows him to excel and work to his full potential while being able to be present and provide for his family.

When Jake is not at work that is what he is all about, his family; and soon they will be adding a son to their household.

Today, we pause to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and the families, friends, and communities forever changed by that day.

Twenty-five years later, we honor the victims, remember the heroes who ran toward danger, and recognize the courage and compassion shown in the days that followed.

May we never forget their lives, their stories, and the enduring spirit of those who came together in the face of unimaginable loss.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget.

Our August employee spotlight goes to Gene H. Gene has been with O’Fallon Casting for 9 years as a Heavy Press operator in our Wax Room. Since joining Gene has worked every shift we have and is now the go to guy for wax molds that require ceramic cores.

“I’m the “Core Guy”. 90% of our parts that require ceramic cores I work on.”

Ceramic cores are pre-formed heat-resistant inserts placed inside wax patterns that allow the creation of internal cavities that are too small to be preformed by just a ceramic shell. These molds are also one of the most difficult we have at O’Fallon and Gene is precise in placement and careful with its handling to ensure the final casting meets the required specifications.

“Gene does some of our most difficult jobs in wax and takes an immense amount of pride in his work. He is a high quality worker and his quirky humor and positivity matches his work ethic and quality” – Kurt, VP of Operations

Speaking of his quirky humor, before he came here, he worked in construction and Gene joked that the best perks about working here is the AC and a fridge he can keep his food in. In all seriousness, he loves the stability that OFC provides and the opportunities to keep growing his career here. Currently Gene is attending Ranken to achieve his Machinist degree.

Gene loves spending time with his wife and 3 kids, one of which they just moved in for their first year at Missouri State. He also plays softball on Fridays and enjoys boating, fishing, and golfing.
