ermal forging), zinc hot-dip galvanizing, heat treating, extrusion, glass, sintering (powder metallurgy), and many areas of research-and-development (R&D). pioneered the use of boron nitride-based coatings for non-wetting applications with molten nonferrous metals. The Boron Nitride Lubricoat, was first introduced in 1985; the term “Lubricoat” was registered as trademark in 1989; and Boron Nitride Lubricoat® is known as THE leader for coating all molten metal transport materials to achieve eye-popping nonwetting. Boron Nitride Hardcoat was developed for hardness and abrasion resistance along with the nonwetting of boron nitride and is “the” unique and industry-leading coating of its type. In 1998, ZYP Coatings formulated our world famous BLUE boron nitride coatings which provide the increased visibility needed on white ceramic substrates. This “baby blue” is found in all nonferrous processing industries and led to the acknowledgement in

In 2002, ZYP Coatings, Inc. developed its unique, state-of-the-art continuous process for the production of Boron Nitride powders used in its coatings. The highly crystalline, highly-pure and highly-uniform powder produced led to the observation that “All BN is not the same”. ZYP Coatings is now known and sells its products worldwide, and is “World Leader in Boron Nitride Coatings” … with the monikers “Formulated with Ultra-High-Purity Boron Nitride” and “Foremost in Product Quality, Service & Selection since 1982”. In 2016 the blue color was trademarked for Boron Nitride paints.

ZYP Coatings is known for its blue coatings. But, as a company, we also think green. For many years, we have used solar energy and participated in TVA's Renewable Energy program. Now, as warmer weather comes to Tennessee, we installed two beehives with thriving colonies of honeybees. We hope our new hives help boost the local population of honeybees!

Joanna Manousis did a study to create mirrored surfaces on cast glass. Since she is located in England, she tested coatings that would not entail HAZ (hazardous material) shipping due to flammability, ruling out our BN Aerosol Lubricoat (ZYP). She tested several of our water-based coatings and our “BN Glass Release DMX Powder” which allows someone to make their own solvent-based coating by merely adding isopropyl alcohol to the DMX powder. Her homemade paint using our DMX and isopropyl alcohol proved to be an exceptional release agent for the cast glass, giving the “clearest, cleanest surface”.
