This time around, I have good news. The information collected by the ETDE information exchange agreement over its many years, 1987-2014, is now available again for archival direct searching at https://www.osti.gov/etdeweb. DOE/OSTI, the former Operating Agent for ETDE, is meeting its verbal commitment to maintain access to the information in some way. While ETDE information is still accessible as part of WorldWideScience search results, a direct search interface is now working for the non-US ETDEWEB content. The US content (along with more current US information) is already available through the OSTI.gov site. We hope that former and new users will be happy about this new development.

The Energy Technology Data Exchange, ETDE, was a multilateral energy information exchange initiative under the International Energy Agency (IEA) framework for 27+ years (1987-2014).  The formal ETDE program end date: 30 June 2014.  ETDE's vast collection of energy-related information had been avai...

In case you have not noticed yet, I am sorry to report that ETDEWEB is no longer available as a standalone application. The ETDE agreement had come to an end in June 2014. We kept the site up separately through February, but now, while the content is still accessible, it is only part of WorldWideEnergy, org

ETDEWEB has exceeded the 5 million point for the number of literature citations earlier this month, and now also has over 500,000 pdfs ready for free viewing. If you have not noticed lately, ETDEWEB is now open for world wide access. Stay tuned for another major announcement coming soon.

The ETDE World Energy Base (ETDEWEB) has now truly gone worldwide. Access to ETDEWEB was opened to the world on 1 November 2013. For those of you who could only do sample searches up until now, you should be able to search and view full records and the PDFs (if we are able to make them available). We still need support to continue ETDE, but we recognize that sharing energy-related information globally helps toward achieving a sustainable energy future.

A new popular topic has been added. The title of this one is "Life Cycle Assessments". The full life cycle of an energy technology is is important to understand when entities are trying to decide on a sustainable energy future for their country. Popular topics can be found on the main ETDE and ETDEWEB World Energy Base pages on the right of the screen (see www.etde.org/etdeweb).

New this week.. Popular Topics debuts on the websites. On both the ETDE and ETDEWEB (1st visit) websites, you will now see a feature on the right of the screen with two popular topics (below the news) appearing. Click on the topic of choice to then be able to link to a live search of the database for that subject area (and if you want to read a little more, gain some searching advice. The first two topics chosen are Biofuels Production and Carbon Capture and Storage/Carbon Sequestration.

I wanted to let this group know, too, of a new development. ETDE now has a mobile site for searching its ETDEWEB database - http://m.etde.org/etdewebmobile/. You can do searches, view records and also full text, or email results to review when you have time (and hopefully) a bigger screen available. Yes, database authentication still has to happen, and you may have to login, depending on whether it recognizes your country as eligible. Wishing all a good weekend.

Database users who are authenticated either by IP-address or domain now have an easier option to set up Alerts in ETDEWEB (Alerts are a way to be notified if records in your area(s) of interest are added to the database during a recent period of time). You only need to enter your name, enter and verify your e-mail address and choose a password. Login and do a search that gets you the subject areas you would like to see, and choose Create Alert, and give it a name. Happy searching!
